My hope for future lineup

I hope the jazz draft Kanter & jimmer.

The jazz would have a great bench.

1st team. Harris/Hayward/Milsap/Jefferson/Favors
2nd team Jimmer/Miles/AK/Kanter/Memo

Just wondering you're opinion, why Jimmer over a guy like Chris Singleton? Considering they are both there

Why Jimmer?

1) POY
2) Best scorer available
3) second fastest at combine means he is more than capable to stay in front of his man on D
4) it is a huge advantage to force someone to guard you 30 feet out. Can you imagine the lanes that would open up for the strength of the team: post scoring
5) the ability to shoot hides many weaknesses
6) he will be able to drive if people have to guard him thirty feet out

By the way if this happens Kanter and Jimmer will start by year two.

Straight line sprinting has extremely little to do with staying in front of your man on defense. In fact, it's really only helpful when your man blows by you...so I guess it's good that Jimmer possesses it.

He wasn't the fastest in straight line it was the agility drills. He is quick not fast. Quicker than kemba walker and Brandon Knight

That doesn't mean he tried vary hard on D in college it means he is physically capable of staying in front of his man in the pros though.

Being able to "physically do it" doesn't shut the door. Playing D isn't just doing lane slides quickly. It's having the ability to anticipate and read the moves of the offensive player. Jimmer hasn't shown he can/is willing to do that.

D is something that can be learned. If he were a great defender he would be a top three pick. However, you can't teach someone to score like Jimmer.

The thing you have to like about Jimmer is that he improved TREMENDOUSLY every year that he has played so far. That shows work ethic, and demonstrates to me that if he has the ability to play defense he will. The combine measurements show that he has the basic tools to play defense in the NBA, at least enough to not embarass himself. He is strong enough to not be pushed around on a post up as well.

That said, I don't think he will last until 12. Jimmer will have a career in the NBA. I'm not sure I can say with any amount of confidence any of those projected past eight will. Some assuredly will, but I don't think anybody knows exactly who.

There is not a guard (who will still be available) other than Jimmer I would take a flyer on at 12. Take a big you like (I like Singleton), or try to trade down. Andrew Goudelock will be just as good as any of the guards later in the first and he can be had for a mid second-rounder (although I suspect he will rise.) If you really want a guard, hold on until next year when we will likely have two lottery picks to address that need in a guard rich environment.

Ok I am a Jimmer homer and think he will be a good pro but this comment is asinine. Playing defense is not about techniques but about desire and attitude. Jimmer doesn't have the attitude to be a good defender. Can he be passable maybe but to expect any more then that is ludacris.

Now I will give you a mulligan about the way Jimmer scores but he can also get teams out of their offense. Do I want him on the jazz yes I do but I don't want him on the jazz over a better prospect.

Oh FYI I played basketball for 14 yrs and have been coaching for about 15.

I wonder who the top white-guy prospects are in next year's draft? They're sure to be Jazzmen.

Hahaha.. imagine this line potential up for the coming season:

C - Okur
PF - Kanter
SF - Kirilenko
SG - Hayward
PG - Jimmer

There's nothing I hate more than going to the rec. center and playing pick-up games with a couple people on my team that want to play absolutely zero defense and then want to be the offensive machines. No Defense = Laziness.

Here is an idea - Draft Williams and Singleton. Small forward becomes a position of strength on the Jazz, and allows Hayward and Miles to play shooting guard. Both are better at shooting guard than small forward in my opinion.

1st team Harris, Hayward, Williams, Jefferson, Favors (Yes I would move Favors to center)

2nd team Watson (re-sign), Miles, Singleton, Millsap, Fes/Tomic

Williams can play some power forward on occassion. A big man rotation of Favors, Jefferson, Williams, Millsap and Fes/Tomic is pretty good. Let AK walk and trade Okur. Get our point guard for the future in next years draft.
