My unhealthy love for Brice Sensibaugh…

Is becoming more healthy everyday.

Dude is improving, and want to see him in the starting lineup. I get why he isn’t starting. But man he’s talented and he’s only 21 in his second year. Some point in the next year or two I think he forces his way into the starting lineup. Maybe Collins gets traded and he’s moved up into the starter role.

I have always thought that a dude who rebounds SHOULD be able to play a bit of D. Both are about effort and IQ. The trick is to provide something so you can stay on the floor to learn your craft. Shooting like Brice has been lately will keep him on the floor.

Brice had his coming out party 2 weeks ago. It was against the grain of the rest of the season and I was hoping it was not just a flash in the pan moment.

But the last few games tell me otherwise. His rise reminds me a bit of the Spida rise. Jason Terry seems to be playing the role of personal mentor like Johnny Bryant did for Spida.

Its fun to watch a young players start to pop.

He has things he needs to iron out but his improvement is encouraging. He’s Uber talented can get away with playing 4 positions to varying degrees. I remember him being billed as a great shooter in college, then he shot 29% from three last year and wasn’t efficient (39% fg). This year he’s shooting 37%, 40% over his last 10 games. He’s also shooting 47% fg. If he could just improve his defense to just slightly worse than average we’ve then got something in him.

He's shooting 40%

We should stop counting the 3-point shooting as a strength and the reason for the player to be on the floor. It was true several years ago but by now almost every veteran is shooting 37-40% on their 3s. It became a basic requirement to be in the rotation. You need something else besides simply being a good 3-point shooter. For Brice it would probably mean inside scoring and playmaking. I think they are improving but there is still a long way to go.

my favorite thing about Brice is the same as it’s been since we drafted him: the dude doesn’t appear to have a favorite place on the court. He can get a bucket from anywhere. I particularly like his midrange skills along the baseline.
