NBA.com Article: Rookie of the Year Predictions- Rudy Gobert?

Found this interesting. especially found the Rudy Gobert nickname to be amusing: The Stifle Tower. Anways, Can't believe they have Jonas Valunciousnas slotted to be a higher possibility of winning the MIP award over Kanter, or Favors and Hayward for that Matter. Never really understood the unconditional love and Hype sports writers have for Jonas. Kanter is clearly going to be a better pro. Anyways, found this note worthy, especially for such a slow time of year.

Can't take this seriously for omitting Olynyk. ROY is based on offensive numbers. With the rebuilding in Boston, someone has to do the scoring and my guess is Olynyk has a chance at averaging 20 pts/per.

Stifle Tower has been used for quite some time. I think it was used at the SL by one of the announcers or sportswriters. I like it.

Maybe they just look at their career's so far. International junior career ( U16-U19 ) European and World championships before NBA - Jonas won 3 gold medals including world championship and was 3 times MVP. Kanter won one bronze medal in European competition and one MVP title. Rookie seasons in Euroleague or NBA - Jonas had better. Summer leagues after first year - Jonas again was better. Pretty easy to understand to me if people judge based purely on achievements and stats.

Nike Hoop Summit carefully omitted by AKMVP yet he includes lowly summer league? Why do you think he was drafted 3rd ahead of JV???? Try to disguise your agenda a little more at least.

Last year Kanter began his ownership of JV once again, picking up where he left off in the teen tournaments.

So you accuse AKMVP of cherry-picking and you do the same. How about the 12 min, 1 pt performance Kanter had against JV and the Raptors in Toronto? One of the reasons JV dropped a little is because he was committed to staying in Europe one more season. While Kanter was prevented from playing in college and then banished to the bench by Ty, JV played another couple of seasons overseas. Last season, Toronto made JV a part of the rotation (24 mins/per) while Ty, yet again, treated Enes like a leper.

In comparing the two, their numbers are fairly similar in terms of FG% and FT%. Jonas played 8 mins more per game and averaged 2 more points and 2 more rebounds. JV will have a bigger role/more minutes with Bargnani gone. Kanter will have a bigger role with Jefferson gone. I think it's anyone's guess as to who has the better stats this year.

Why would I bother mentioning single no defense all-star show type game? At least in summer leagues they play more then 1 game which leads to better evaluation. Plus we can't even compare their play in Nike hoops Summit since Jonas never played in one. It has no value, sorry.
I looked in similar tournaments or leagues they both played and sorry to be objective and hurt your feelings but Jonas has better pro career then Kanter so far. Kanter never won any gold in junior tournaments ( while Jonas won 3), was never named MVP of NBA summer league or rookie of the month either.

I would take Kanter, Favors, Drummond, Monroe, Davis, Vucevic, Pekovic, Hibbert, Serge, Lopez, Asik, Javale, Nerlens, and maybe even DeAndre over that no rebounding, no defense, soft as butter Valanciunus.

Guy couldn't get a rebound on a team including Bargnani? He is the worst rebounding center in the league.

Jonas and Enes are going to be good players. I think Enes fits in better with Favors than Jonas does, which does make a difference.

Both will be good though. Rare to find low-post players that shoot FT's as well as those two do.

I think it is because Jazz already had high energy, pick and roll type, shot blocking big man in Favors. Kanter's iso and post game complimented him better then JV. Plus as Core4 mentioned his buyout was kind of murky which potentially scared not only Jazz but Cavs as well.
At the end of the day I do not understand why this is in any way relevant to the original question by OP - who is going to be better pro? Is D.Milicic better pro then Carmelo, Bosh or Wade?

Man, I have no idea how did he outplayed and outrebounded Hibbert while being soft as butter and being worst rebounding center? Must be refs:/

Last times I remember, JV was highly underrated on this board, apparently he still is.

About Gobert, I have no idea who the hell he is!

And who the hell are Jerel McNeal and John Lucas:confused:

This guy is an idiot. Does t he know trey Burke is winning the ROY? Favors will be DPOY. Kanter MVP. Hayward will win most improved, and burks will win coach of the year after strangling Ty Kermit Corbin.

The Hoop Summit is the one game that is highly competitive. They practice a week for it, longer than any of the summer leagues get to know each other. We both know you would have mentioned it if JV was the one breaking Dirk's scoring record. Dennis Schroeder was a late 2nd round pick before the Hoop Summit this year, if he declared at all, this is common knowledge if you remotely follow the draft.

You really have been gone. Witness Protection Program?

Lol, kind of WPP. I was away from internet most of the time and I followed the Jazz only from newspapers which means it was only some side notes in the news about Lakers, Celtics, Heat etc. I did read we drafted Burke on the newspapers too and thought "Ok, wasn't that the guy we were praying for, very nice"

Now I'm watching Gobert videos and he looks PRETTY hopeful.

But the best news I got today is Neto who I knew about before. He is gonna be rich mans Calderon with being quicker and with an actual defensive game. I believe Jazz hit the jackpot in acquiring him.

Brilliant took the words out of my brain and added two players.

I'm pretty exited about Gobert look like McGee with a brain. I remember Javalee when he destroyed Bynum in a Lakers Nuggets series few years ago. Rudy can be fantastic defensive player, a game changer. Put him with Favors or Kanter. That mean nice towers in town.
