Seriously, it went down to the wire... and the Heat were lucky that they even made it to the 7th game.
So now I've got to listen to a year of people talking about how unbeatable they are...

3 straight finals trips.... People aren't too far off saying that

Splitter wasn't athletic enough for this series. He was in over his head. How many more facials did Lebron and Bosh have to give him before we learn that fact?

Splitter is an ok backup. But guys like he and Kosta cannot play against the elite players at their most desperate NBA finals time. It's a big boy game in the playoffs (even moreso for the finals). Guys really show both their heart and talent.

Hence, why boozer, big al, splitter, fade... While (old) Duncan, shaq, lebron, MJ, big shot billups, etc have excelled.

Are you sure Duncan is more athletic than Splitter and not just, you know, ****ing better?

What's interesting to me is how damn right people were about lebron.

Coming out of hs, everyone knew he was going to be good... Real good...

But did anyone see this?

How often do we hear x is the next MJ/bird/Russel... And they end up being busts?

Lebron was compared to magic, right? And it sounded like a nice goal then.

The dude is incredible.

He has exceeded all expectations. How often can you say that about a top pick? Usually they don't even come close to fulfilling their potential

In all fairness, I still root against LeBron because of "the Decision." I felt he should have stayed loyal with Cleveland instead of embarrassing the entire city and organization on National TV. I cheered for LeBron before the decision, but now I cannot cheer for him.

How would we have felt if Stockton would have fled somewhere else in his prime?

BTW - ESPN's attempts to persuade me to cheer for LeBron (through articles and other forms of media coverage) only dissuade me into really cheering against him.

With all that said, he is possibly the best basketball player I have ever seen play the game.

I wanted Lebron to lose this one too, but more importantly wanted the Spurs to win this, if this is indeed their last run with Duncan. Disappointed that they choked it up a bit in game 6.

Now all Heat would have to do is keep replacing their 3-pt shooters with younger ones, players who want to get on the ride for a trip to trophyland and that they'll find easily. i

Lebron maybe the greatest whatever, but he still had to go to a team which already had a star who had won a ring, in order to get his own ring. And did it in the most distasteful way. I dont have much respect for Riley as well, outside of his coaching abilities. I will root for any other team against Miami in the coming seasons.

As for the Jazz, if you have watched these past 2-3 weeks of games, you'd know that they are about another 2-3 years away from sniffing contention, unless they make any surprise major moves.
Iam a fan of Sloan the coach, but I do not know how good he will be in an adviser's role. Hope he turns out to be good, but he cant wave magic wands and same's the case with Malone.

It is Lindsey and Greggyboy who need to get the talent. It is all about talent in the playoffs. Jazz FO/PR cannot fool the fans into thinking that just by bringing some old icons back they are serious about winning a championship or whatsoever. Get the darn talent first.

Despite having James, Wade and Bosh, Heat still needed some deep, sick 3-pt shooting talent to win this one. Shows you how difficult it is. Jazz are'nt even in the same stratosphere yet, they are floating in space somewhere out there

I take you back to Pops pregame interview.
What does your team do to win tonight?
"I have no idea."
The pushing every possession just led to too many turnovers.
not just Gino, but Parker too.
worst game I ever saw Parker play.
I've seen Splitter have very good games before this series.

The pushing was the most effective way the Spurs scored in this series. When the D set and Manu Ginobili got the ball and had to make a decision, he biffed it the vast majority of the time with exception to one game. And Parker might be hobbled, and he was guarded by - wait for it - the most insane physical specimen and versatile player the league has ever seen. How either of those are Popovich's fault, I'm not sure. Without Parker and Manu, they have 0 playmaking ability on the perimeter and without that, Duncan becomes a lot easier to shut down.

Splitter did not look good this series.
I agree with zbone and eenie posts.
I disagree with most everyone else about many things, but no point arguing anymore.

Lebron wasn't just another #1. He was as sure a thing coming into the NBA as any prospect in the last 20 years. Or maybe in the conversation of "ever".

Bear in mind that if he didn't stack the deck for himself, he'd just be the biggest disappointment of all time to you.

Agree on all points

How can anyone not love D Wade and Lebron. Both those guys are some cool *** dudes.

They are great Ambassadors of the game and great role models .

Dead serious.

Hasn't he exceeded even those expectations? Wasn't this his 4th MVP award and 2nd ring?

Duncan is longer, bigger, and he's even at this state, more athletic than splitter.

Splitter was clearly in over his head this series.

Don't obfuscate the point I debated. You were talking about how if you're unathletic that you'll always be irrelevant. Duncan is not particularly athletic. He is brilliant, knows his spots, and is also a top-10 player of all time but it isn't and wasn't because he was Dwight Howard. It's because he was and is really smart and really good at basketball. There's as big a list (or bigger) of washout athletic bigs that couldn't play as that of relative stiffs that do great things.

It's beside the point to me. What they and Bosh did was poison the culture of the NBA and I can't route for their success on that point alone. The Jazz have no chance if every team's franchise player just gives up and bounces to LA, NY, Miami, Chicago, or Boston.

It worked , and then it stopped working. You gotta change things up in the playoffs. Adjustments.
Parker was effective in the half court.
His turnovers were pushing the ball in the open court, not being guarded by Lebron generally.
Pops was the one whose whole game plan was push push push, and it led to a ton of turnovers.

Man, I feel so bad. These types of teams are so rare. Everyone knew their role, everyone liked one another, the chemistry was great, and they rarely ran iso plays. They reminded me of the 02/03 Kings, I loved that team.

Kawhi missed a free throw to essentially win game 6. I hope it doesn't haunt him for the rest of his career. Judging by his game 7 performance, it won't, but you have to feel terrible for the guy. Will he ever get a chance to play in the finals again?

Watching Duncan get mad at himself after missing that shot to tie it up gave me so many feels. I wanted him to have it so bad.

Adjust to what, though? You're sitting there sniping in your Monday Morning La-Z-Boy at the best coach/best organization that the league has probably ever seen and offering no solutions. Pop made some mistakes, but most of them are only in hindsight. Every risk he made was calculated, and most of them went farther than they should've (Diaw was crazy effective guarding James somehow). The bottom line is that in the NBA, guys that can create shots (for others but especially themselves) have a disproportionate advantage over their peers, and the Spurs best options there (Parker, Ginobili) were hardly effective. The Spurs took the Heat to 7 games in the NBA finals with very little playmaking on the perimeter. Gary Neal and Danny Green over the course of the series were as good or better and they can't do much with the ball. And you can't just dump the ball into the post as the post is much easier to stop.

Getting back to the point, give a detailed game-plan about how the Spurs do a better job in the half-court with no playmaking on the perimeter and against one of the best defenses in the NBA. I'm sure the great minds of the NBA will be floored with the genius of it.
