NBA Free Agency Moves in General (related to the Jazz, but not just moves made by the Jazz)

I'm sad to see Boris leave. He was fun to have around.

Jazz Acquisitions under Dennis Lindsey. . .

• Trevor Booker - teach the young guys how to stand up for themselves and love the organization.

• Jonas Jerebko - teach the young guys how to toughen up and play with an edge.

• Ekpe Udoh - teach the young guys how to never give up.

• Joe Ingles - teach the young guys how to be indispensable and work HARD.

• George Hill - teach the young guys how to be leaders and compete.

• Boris Diaw - teach the young guys how to have fun.

• Thabo Sefalosha - teach the young guys how to play defense.

• Ricky Rubio - teach the young guys how to share the load.

• Joe Johnson - teach the young guys how to WIN.

When we look back at how Gobert and Rubio and Favors and Hood and Exum and Mitchell all developed into the players they will become. . . this is why.

From Twitter reports seems like the start of the framework of the Melo deal is something like this

Houston gets Melo
New York gets Mo Harkless
Portland gets Ryan Anderson
4th team takes on Meyers Leonard

Leonard's contract is soooo bad doe. Good luck. If Melo gets to Houston... someone gets hosed.

That's the things about Spurs dudes, the Spurs know they can find another Simmons easy. Other people will overate and pay for him but Spurs will just laugh.

Few Spurs FAs have succeeded outside of that team.

Simmons time with the Spurs is likely the most focused he has been and ever will be as a bball player. Things to consider.

That 4th team says "**** You!"

You would think the Knicks would get back more.

They were thinking about stretching his salary and waiving him, Getting rid of him for something like Mo Harkless, who is an asset would be a decent deal for them. If there is any assets, they are going to whoever has to swallow the Meyers Leonard turd sandwich.

I agree. What trading teams have lost is Philly being the dumping ground for contracts in exchange for a few 2nd round picks. It's going to be difficult to find that 4th team to take on Leonard or Anderson. Assets have to go to New York AND they have to be included for the salary dump.

We better keep Joe Jesus. In his role for his money I cannot think of a single other player I would rather have.

Keith Smith's notes on SL for the Jazz:

Utah
1. Sad to see Gordon Hayward go but “We rebounded nicely. Kept Joe (Ingles) and some others on the way (turned out to be Jonas Jerebko, Thabo Sefolosha and Ekpe Udoh). Our defense will carry us, but we might have to work a bit more to create offense. But Rodney (Hood) will step up big time.”
2. They think Donovan Mitchell will be a big time star. “He’s going to be like Dame (Damian Lillard) or CJ (McCollum) with the way he’ll score the ball. We traded up for a reason and that is because this kid has star written all over him.”
3. Believe is that Rudy Gobert can carry more offensive responsibility, while remaining the best defender in the NBA.
4. “Ricky (Rubio) is going to help us a lot. We need a little flash occasionally. Sometimes we were too structured. And he’s a great fit with our defense.”
