Lol Rudy Gay is so washed
I think Prince has a year left on his deal... Likely a buyout candidate after the trade deadline... likely heads to play with his homey KD though.Taurean Prince, OPJ, Gay. Not sure if there’s a way we could get two of them. But these guys are realistic and what we need. Even one of them would be huge.
Caruso too.
We only have the mini mle... You can use the MLE and take a player in sign and trade but both will hard cap you... the mini mle takes us over the apron in this scenario so you aren't even using that.Clarkson/Favors/30 for Lonzo keeps us under the apron and potentially under the luxury tax depending on how much we pay him. Anything under 22M would be perfect.
Remember if we get a player in a sign-and-trade we can’t use the MLE.
Lonzo FTW.We only have the mini mle... You can use the MLE and take a player in sign and trade but both will hard cap you... the mini mle takes us over the apron in this scenario so you aren't even using that.
I see no way for this deal to happen and think yall are dreaming. We can't trade the pick until after we have made it... the draft is well before free agency... so you have to pick someone NO wants without negotiating with either Lonzo or NO on a sign and trade?
Lonzo basically has to force his way here to make a sign and trade happen. Why is he doing that? Why would he force his way here instead of NY? If I thought it was remotely within the realm of possibility I'd think it through. It is not really worth discussing.

What is our cap situation if we a. sign Conley b. , don't sign Conley?
First... he won't he has other many other options. The receiving team cannot have used the so-called "taxpayer mid-level exception" in that season. The taxpayer mid-level exception is a limited financial buffer that teams with total payroll above the luxury tax threshold must use to sign players for up to 3 years.
Also, if Lonzo decided he wanted to sign here it works perfectly fine. Maybe we send a future first instead.
If Lonzo goes to NO and says I’m signing with the Jazz for 20M a year and they don’t want to match it why wouldn’t they try to get something in return?
Would the Jazz strictly be limited to minimum deals? Would the BAE be there? A different MLE?Clarkson/Favors/30 for Lonzo keeps us under the apron and potentially under the luxury tax depending on how much we pay him. Anything under 22M would be perfect.

We'd be hard capped so either way we really couldn't use an exception. It would just be minimums unless we dumped a bunch of salary.Would the Jazz strictly be limited to minimum deals? Would the BAE be there? A different MLE?
My mood has swung constantly when it comes to thinking about what the Jazz might/could do. I think they could get very creative to improve their roster then I fall back to reality and accept that they aren't gonna do jack ****. So at the moment i'd say less than 1%.What do you think the odds of getting Lonzo here is ?

When you consider we had a need for perimeter defense for two years and they did nothing to address it other than “add” a g league guy who was already on the roster from the year before and declare him to be “our best perimeter defender”.... I think it’s a safe assumption we will do the most vanilla stuff and it will be very underwhelming. We’ve also had incredible financial flexibility in years past and haven’t been able to plan in a way that maximizes it... so now that we are way up against the tax I think we are looking at the most minor of minor moves. My mood has swung constantly when it comes to thinking about what the Jazz might/could do.
