NBA set to penalize players for flopping!!

Awesome! I propose a $5,000 fine, then $10,000, then $25,000, then $50, 000, then $100,000, then $200,000 and so on...**** em. **** em all.
 
In related news, Greg Popovich is expected to announce his retirement on Tuesday as he knows the new rule will impact his team the most and cost them any shot they might have still had at another ring.

That's what I was thinking.

Part of the problem is that if there is actual contact how much contact does it take to knock a guy over or push him backwards? Does a player have to try to not fall over when they get pushed? Does a player have to try to make the contact unnoticeable?

I remember back in the good 'ol days of Stockton and Malone, I wanted them to overreact to contact because I felt that reffing was so biased that they had to make it blatantly obvious that they were getting fouled before they would get the call. It's different if there is no contact or if on review it is plainly obvious that a person is acting. Sounds like this new system will be post game review, and that's a good start, but if flopping turns the tide at the end of a close game I doubt they are going to take the win away, so there will still be an incentive to flop sometimes.

They say this crap every year, but nothing ever changes.
The officials call it close for like the first couple games, and then everyone goes back to their flopping ways all over again.

This implies that it is not done by the officials during the game but by the league office after games. That gives me hope that it might be a constant thing.
 
That's all they can do. Review the game on tape after and then see the flops and go from there. Players will catch on real quick what a flop is. I want the 90's NBA back already.

Oh man. I'd love to see Favors and Kanter learn from peopel like Malone, Barkley, Mourning, Johnson, Olajouwan...

I'm a little curious as to how many plays will be reviewed. A few per game? Every charging call? Will potential offensive flops be looked at?

Yeah I get that, but I don't really have to much hope when it comes to elite players.
I highly doubt this will effect anyone but smaller franchises, and younger players.
Sounds good for the Jazz.

It gives me hope but liek you I am guarded. If it lasts all season I will start to think it is permanent.
 
I suspect it will work like this:

1. Team A complains about player B.
2. League office reviews
3. Fine is issued or not.
