NBA SUMMER LEAGUE 2018

On that play Bradley is in position to help and guard the kick out to Swanigan at 3.

Bradley isn't Gobert. He can't completely erase garbage defense from the perimeter. He rotated well all things considered, he just can't jump high and when your guard allows an elite athlete a free lane with 0 resistance, that's what happens.

Its just ridiculous to act like him getting dunked on means he can't be a NBA center when guys get dunked on nearly every game. It happens.

This.
If Burks (or anyone with great athleticism) gets that same freedom by the perimeter defender and gets that head of steam then he dunks on the majority of centers in the nba.

Tony Bradley was such a weird pick though. He can't play the 4 in today's NBA, so he's always going to play behind Gobert. How many minutes can he get MAX a game as a backup center? 15??

Why not draft a guy who could play a wing or potentially a 4, and develop him instead?

I'm still scratching my head over that pick.

Ya, when you look at it like that it’s definitely odd.

Yeah but who else was left on the board worth drafting? Im partial to Jonah Bolden (im biased he's aussie) who i'm watching now play summer league with philly, think he would have been a better fit.

Also we didn't just grab any guy available. We actually traded up to grab Bradley. Why are we trading up to get someone who will play at most 15 min. per game as long as Gobert on the team (potentially forever)?

Yeah that's odd, kids only what 20 tho? Maybe the plan is to develop him and trade him down the track for something else, still don't see him ever being worth a future first round pick tho.

Yeah and in the meantime he's taking up a roster space too, ... If we didn't like anyone, better to have traded out of the draft and grab one this year instead.

Other challengers for this award Sam Cassell, Ben Handlogten, The Junkyard Dog etc...

you're forgetting someone

Because the Jazz liked him. He was extremely high on their board.

I went to the game today and here are some thoughts:

Tony Bradley and Niang had some tough calls tonight. I don't think the foul trouble was reflective of what actually happened. Bradley had at least 2 or three questionable calls (Collins was getting away with a lot of initiation, as evident with the beef with Haas)

I watched Grayson closely and although he was fairly pestering on defense, I didn't see anything that seemed like it would've flared up Wade IV to react how he did. Good to see he is already getting under the skin of players

Grayson has a quicker release than I remember in broadcasts, and his shot is very soft with good spin.

Grayson can jump high

Niang's jumper is as fluid in real life as it looks on TV. He's also a a guy with size and length. Me and some other Jazz fans around were speculating that he was the replacement to Jerebko. He seemed like he was the only one able to get to the rim, alongside Wilder a few times.

The Haas/Collins beef was real and was hella fun to watch. Collins getting heckled all night for the mask. There were actually a ton of Blazers fans as well as Jazz fans in the crowd. Coworker I went with said he'd never seen the Cox arena so full

As evident from the cold spells in shooting, the Jazz had issues cracking the Blazers interior D. Collins was making it tough in there, as well as Swanigan. Grayson was playing off the ball most the night which was kind of disappointing, I don't know if that was the game plan or if he was getting extra attention from the defense.

It was cool to see Donovan, Exum, Royce, and Lillard. Donovan was getting absolutely mobbed for autographs when he wasnt sitting in on the broadcast during the 3rd. I think it was the main reason why the Cox gym was full

I also stuck around for the Pelicans/Heat game while we waited to check out the Suns. Trevon Bluiett was shooting the lights out. ALSO, strangely enough, Memo came in for this game and sat near me. Nearly no one recognized him and I did shout 'MEMO!' which he gave me a little response to. I was sitting by a family that had a kid with a basketball who was getting autographs like nuts by pretty much every big name player in the gym, and told him that was an ex-Jazz player (even though the family were Blazers fans). He was able to get his autograph. I'm lazy and I don't get up for things like that

Collins is a Las Vegas native.

Well, Portland was the last team to pay Memo.

That one ref was awful... was making calls then staring guys down Joey Crawford style... right from the start he stared down Haas on the dunk whipe off foul.

Georges started slow then gave them the business... I was tempted to go talk to Dennis Lindsey and make sure we got the deal signed. I’m kidding... kind of.

OH! Joey Crawford was there! Guys behind me were pointing it out. He was near the east-north entrance when the Grayson/Wade IV thing was getting reviewed. That's exceptional that you said that

Yeah but this is Bradley's SECOND SUMMER LEAGUE. And, Bradley played in the G-League for a whole year last year against grown men.

True, but Ayton was the number one pick while Bradley was the 28th pick. I don't think anyone is saying Bradley will be better but he isn't sucking like people are saying he is. The point is that crowning Ayton as being great and Bradley sucking after two summer league games is pretty ridiculous.

Ayton got a bunch of cheapies at the end of the game it wasn't a great showing. Giles and the Kings denied him the ball like 5 times in the first 2 quarters.

Harry was the story of the game, he looked fantastic.
