NCAA Tournament 2012

Not sure but you guys will be able to see Machado in that game.

My Spartans are a #1 seed. Was hoping they'd lose a very close, hard fought game to Ohio State to keep them honest and hungry. Oh well. Every player who's been under Izzo for all four years has reached a Final Four. Now's such a year for the seniors.

How dare you lump me in with the BYU fans. I was just curious as I saw they were not listed as a normal team.

Also Curious to see who everybody has going all the way. Going to look at the brackets later tonight and pick them out. But some might be done already.

It's good to be "in", but c'mon, they have to get rid of 65-68. Make them play in the NIT if that's their spots. Tournaments should not have an unequal amount of games for some teams, BYU or no BYU.

I refuse to pick against BYU in my bracket of course, but I would probably go Missouri all the way otherwise.

So is BYU in? Does being in the play in game count?

It's considered the first round, but I have a hard time moving from tradition, so I say no it doesn't count unless they win that game - then it counted. For a 14 against a 3, Marquette is as good a matchup as BYU could hope for if they do get by Iona, IMO.

No question that the overall draw is pretty favorable. Those higher seeds in that region don't even scare me despite what I said about Missouri above. The problem with BYU is that they're injured. Most consistent scorer? Wobbly. Point guard that looked like he could do no wrong for a few games? Shaky confidence, shaky leg problems. The guy that was a sure 10+ of the bench and a 3 point threat? Not even contributing right now due to injuries.

I hope that week off since their last game healed some bodies.

Colorado is in! They'll probably get beat by UNLV, but hell, it's been like 10 years since the Buffs have made the tournament.

No question, if Hartsock is still hurting, they have little to no shot at beating Marquette.

your Spartans? Do you have a connection?

anyhow, is someone doing a bracket thing again this year? I don't recall who's put it together in previous years.

No connection. I'm just a fan of them and have been for about 10 years. It comes down to Izzo. If he left, my fandom would probably go with him. I've always had an affinity for teams who are tough and physical and back down to no onw. It's why I started liking the Jazz in many ways. Not like they represent that now though.

I think you would be pretty safe if you stayed away from picking any Western teams to make deep runs this year. SDSU (-) their 4 good bigs from their deep run last year aren't going to do anything. Colorado State is garbage. Gonzaga/New Mexico/BYU/Saint Mary's/UNLV have enough talent to make a run, but they would have to play out their minds really to even get to 16. Maybe college basketball as a whole is just down this year though? Which means that sexy 2012 NBA draft that everybody is eying could just be fool's gold.

gotta agree - Izzo is one of my favorite college coaches, he runs a clean program and a tight ship, and does a good job developing players and getting them on the same page. I've always loved watching his teams. Plus my distaste for the Wolverines goes way, way back - so I've always felt compelled to support their in-state rival Spartans.

Would not surprise me at all to see them in the Final Four.

Just saw that Melo has been ruled ineligible for the tourney. There goes my Syracuse pick...changed it to UNC.
