I guess my grade has to do with expectations. I had higher expectations than last year so I gave the team a D. I still give the organization an F for holding back the young guys and not going with the youth movement. I think this team/organization is making a big mistake in not playing the young guys and trading our veteran assets. What really scares me is the idea that the organization will decide to bring back AJ/Millsap/Mo Williams using the excuse that Mo's injury didn't give the team a chance to evaluate this particular roster. If this were to happen I think it would push me over the edge to complete apathy towards the team.

Can't be a F if they have a winning record. Can't give them a D for a having a winning record despite playing more road than home games. I give them a C.

The Jefferson/Corbin love affair really needs to go. Al is a solid player but he doesn't get to the line or play any defense at all. He just can't be the center point of the offense on a truly successful team.

Corbin. Who would choose to play Tinsley 35 minutes over giving Burks 20 minutes is just dumb. To not play Kanter more than 10 minutes in games that he puts up 8-10 points in those 10 minutes. What?!

I think you peple giving them a failing grade are really being unrealistic. Remember this is the Jazz who've been one of the worst road teams for the past five years. If you realize that than how can you give them a bad grade, when you know they've played the most road games of ANY team in the nba, and they still have a winning record. Considering this teams history of road woes, to have a winning record after playing more road games than any team in the nba deserves a good grade.

I don't think the people giving F's are displeased with our current record, but how we got to this point. I understand why they feel that way. We have a #3 draft pick in his 3rd year who at this time is looked at as the cornerstone of the franchise who is getting 15-20 minutes a night. Just look at Greg Monroe from last night, the guy is now an established good player and Favors is not. Monroe was given his chance to shine immediately and we are bringing Favors along like a snail.

I'm not ready to go as far as to say the season is an F by any stretch because I still like the team being successful and given our record with our amount of road games I'm pleased. So I'd actually rate the team a B on success, but a D on development/coaching.

Al is playing the best ball of his career. We should be able to trade him for something, but we'd better hurry up and do it.
Millsap also has some trade value.
Hayward is starting to play a bit better and gain more confidence.
Burks is making progress.
Favors is slowly coming along and is our best defensive player.
Kanter needs minutes. Badly. He was our best player in pre-season.
Overall, Foye is working out for us.
Corbin needs to get more experience and needs help as a coach. It seems like our assistant coaches are green too.

I'd give it a B-.

He's playing well right now, but his value is lowered by the fact that he's a half year rental. Al will probably be looking for at the very least 14million a year for 4 years. Not many teams out there are willing to do that for Al.

This has been an incredible holding pattern. Somebody must be re-fueling us up there. Circling.

D.

No doubt. I'm pretty confident that Linsdey will a trade around the deadline anyway, and that's basiclly a month away. I think around the All-star break he'll have a good indication of if we can make a playoff push, and he'll make decisions accordingly

Solid D. I almost said F but have seen improvement from Favors, Kanter and Hayward. It's a D because this season should have been about developing our future core and learning what they needed to add around them to succeed. We have failed utterly at accomplishing what should have been our main goal. Being mediocre while not accomplishing that goal is what made me want to put an F.

The reasons you listed are worth a lower grade than the record is worth a good one.

Being average in the NBA is about the worst thing you can be. So having an average record while not developing your youth is a fail. Better to be the GSW and tank than be average.

C, meaning average. But C is also for craptacular, so take your pick. At times they run like a thing of beauty, but those times are too few & far between. The rest of the time they are ho hum or just plain bad...due in large part to a coach who has little to no decision making skills.

D. Its safe to say our record would be 23 and 16 if Burks was seeing Watson and Carroll's minutes the whole year. Instead there is now a good chance we miss the playoffs and get the craptacular (stealing your word motappin) 14th pick.

That's craptastic.

This team is barely above .500 ball at this point and that is how I see the team right now. Average. better than the bad teams but worse than places like Miami, OKC and SA.

If the goal is to be a playoff contender, then we get a D because we have no chance of being relevant this year and we aren't currently preparing our young players for the future very well.

If the goal is putting a watchable and fun product on the floor, we get an F because this team is absolutely horrible to watch this season.

So I'll give em a D-.

Best post of the thread!

Thats harsh.

Reality is that in the stale old NBA, only 4-5 teams really have a shot at a championship in any season. Jazz goals were never about championship, it was about 1st round. They are almost there.

Almost a round 1 (exit) team. I guess even the Jazz have dreams. I'm afraid you're right, Mellow. Until the FO mentality changes we can look forward to more of the same. What fun.

I think the Jazz understand the position they're in: they'll never have the resources (not to mention the location) to be a consistent "contender" in this league. Therefore, their goal is to be consistently "kinda good". Stated differently, their goal is to receive a "C" rating from the fans. In that regard, given the poll results, I have to give them an "A".

Mission on target. Hold the course.
