I was given nothing, at all, in life.
Have done alright.
Never went to college.
Hold my own in any board room, anywhere, any time.
I call street smarts learning on the go from experiences. Especially when absent of an academic education on an specific topic.
I taught myself on the fly.
Only reason I say that is to help distinguish my own definitional paradigm between the two terms.
I readily admit I have less education and book smarts.
I also cringe when my son is explaining to me what he's learning in his business classes. His professor, for one, is complete buffoon.
I have ALL THE RESPECT IN THE WORLD for academia. Pushing my kids hard even though I wasn't at all. And it's hard because they tend to want to use me as the example as to why they don't need it. I consider myself very lucky/fortunate/blessed to have made something out of nothing... don't want those odds for my kids.
I hold Siro and Dala (as well as others) in very very high regard.
Although I think some professors are morons doesn't mean the overall education is fantastic for so many reasons.
My hats off to everyone that put in the work to better and enrich their lives rather than taking the lazy or dumb approach.
