But you can't win the vote in this thing around here with Kemp on your roster. People forget so easily or they never watched him play. In his best season he averaged 20/11/2 asts/1.6 blo/1.2 st on 56% from the floor with a lot of mid-range shots and crazy athleticism. He could hit the 3 although in that era he didn't shoot many of them, but I think in today's NBA he would thrive. He and payton were the core of the team that knocked out a prime Stockton and Malone to get to the finals in 96. He is definitely underrated on this board.

He would be a nightmare stretch 4 in today's game on both ends if his 3 ball developed.
And if he stayed motivated and focused.

He was a high school to NBA guy right?

Shawn Kemp was very good and playing with Detlef and Payton made him that much better. But in no way shape or form was he "stretch 4" material. If anything, today's switchable players would make it harder for him to completely "outathletitic" the bigger, slower defenders he abused in his day.

Kemp was more powerful, but Amare was more of a "stretch 4" than Kemp. Once their athleticism let up a bit, both of them declined super rapidly. Why? Because neither were very good defenders or shooters.

Kemp’s biggest flaws were that he relied solely on his amazing physical gifts. His defense was bad, IQ was none existent. One thing I remember is he struggled to stay on the court due to too much fouling. Whenever they’d play the jazz they’d put him on whoever the jazz center was because Malone would completely destroy him, and take him out of the game completely. Yes, he put up stats, but that team won games because of all the talent surrounding him. He played on some pretty stacked teams.
