Welcome aboard!
Curious... what were the determining factors for selecting the Jazz as your team, as opposed to say... Indiana, Denver, or any other decent team?
Aha, makes sense now.
Never been to Kentucky, though I hear the chicken is a bit tasty![]()
Oh, and whenever I've seen the Nuggets, I've wanted them to lose.
Hi guys.
For better, for worse, in playoffs or in lottery picks I have decided that my team is the Utah Jazz.
So you just never know who might be watching the Jazz across the world - in my case, in Northern Ireland, though I am English by birth.
Looking forward to seeing whether the good start can keep going and the Jazz can make the playoffs in a tough Western Conference.
All the best,
Ste (snowboy)
Decisions like that can be fun![]()
We could all go support the Lakers I guess, but firstly I hate them and secondly I hate them and thirdly, where is the challenge? Utah appealed to me for many reasons, and after much deliberation i decided I just couldn't pass on you guys.
The lack of competitiveness is the major factor for me too. One thing I like about American sports is the relative parity.
Like you, I am gravitating towards international football too, none of that rubbish to contend with.
We should get on like a house on fire![]()
I remember always being the Jazz when we played the Lakers vs Celtics computer game back in... 96-ish. Been a fan ever since.Welcome aboard!

I think there are a number of factors really. First, when I really thought about it, I wanted to follow a Western Conference team. I prefer the teams in the west, they interest me a lot more. That said I do have some affection for the Bucks and (perhaps surprisingly for a Philly team) the sixers. Beyond that I can take or leave a lot of teams in the East.
Specifically re the Pacers they were a team I did actually consider. I like the jerseys and thought they might be a good young team to follow. Then I watched them a couple of times and I found that the spark wasn't there for Indiana, so I ruled them out.
Having decided I wanted to follow a western team I must admit that the Jazz were not the only team in my thoughts. However, I like the Jazz for the following reasons.
I imagine salt lake city to be a basketball town. The jazz have a great tradition and there are no professional sporting distractions besides them (though I am sure the colleges always feature). This makes me think there is a strong and loyal fanbase.
I have watched footage of the Stockton / Malone era and I always found myself rooting for the Jazz. It's a team that seems well run and stable.
I'm a small market guy at heart and I think Utah is certainly a smaller market than some.
Gotta love them uniforms!

... but it's 'UK' not 'the UK' ..
