New Idea With Lakers

I don't understand how some of you morons just don't get it:

- We lost Hayward because we were patient and didn't see clear signs..
- We will lose Favors because all those signs are there again if not more.
- We don't have the money or a good pick to add anything substantial this year OR next.

You have to give to get in the NBA trade market. We need another asset for the long haul of Hood, Gobert, Exum and Mitchell. Taking Deng is worth hoping to gain that asset through picks, Kuzma or Bryant.

Throw Burks in instead of Diaw and make it top 5-10 protected and I do it. Maybe.

I find it funny how you guys think we will get some great free agent to sign here if we have money. OR, what we currently have is gonna be enough to be West Finals relevant off of development alone.

Really? They just dumped Russell. And they have to re-sign Randle. C'mon man. Think ahead.

They dumped Russell because Magic Johnson didnt think he was a leader and wanted to put Lonzo as the unquestioned PG. It also cleared space for George. Now they have that space and no reason to currently dump anyone else. In 2018 if they feel like they can get Lebron, they can try to dump Deng then, when his contract will be a full year shorter.

You are honestly the only moron here I see.

I still don't see why LA does this. I think we are greatly over-valuing Favors. I could see them wanting to do a Deng + a pick for Favors directly, that would be about it. In the end we would either eat cap space to take on Deng or have to include players to get the salaries in line, and I would not want to do either. If this trade could go down this way, then hell yeah, but I do not see any way this works in the real world.
Favors for Deng and a Pick is a **** no for Utah. We are not ditching Favors for nothing and taking on that albatross of a contract Deng is packing. Better to let favors walk for nothing than do that. Deng and a First doesn't land a single player on the Jazz's roster.

They have to move him this year if they getting Paul George and another max dude. I'm skeptical they can get it done but I'd try and scoop a ton of assets from them if they believe it. Cost Toronto a first and second for Carroll and I think deng has much more dead money.

I'd start with the two firsts nance and Kuzma and see if they bite.
They don't have 2 first to trade. Not for years from what I read on here.

Not exactly sure how it all works under the CBA, but they dont have a first round pick next year, so they can't trade their 2019 pick (right?). So the earliest pick you can get from them is 2020. So we are taking on a terrible contract that will hamstring the Jazz franchise for 3 years just to hopefully get a good first round pick in 2020 (and the Lakers could be a playoff time by then so lol it would just be an OK pick).

Do you understand that Diaw and Favors will almost certainly be gone next summer? This is exactly what I said last year about Hayward and everybody is feeling the sting of losing him for nothing. Small franchises have to get value for guys they know will leave.

So Favors can help get us to the 7th or 8th seed this season or get us a Kuzma, Bryant, Randle, or future pick who can be here longer and take us further. We don't have the money or appeal to sign a big free agent. We have to generate talent through a trade or finding a needle in the haystack overseas, late in the draft or in the GLeague.

We can extend Favor's before the trade deadline. He seems like he has always been open to that and values stability. I know lopo doesn't like Favor's though.

There is no way I extend him, just too risky to get stuck on a long term deal if he gets injured again.

If he is 100% healthy and moving fine I'm not concerned about that. At that point it's equal to any other players risk of getting hurt. I'm suspicious of he can get all the way healthy and moving right though.

Not sure if Chicago is wanting to get rid of Wade anymore now that free agency is mostly over but if they are wanting to salary dump him would they include Mirotic in a sign and trade to get rid of him?
Favor's, Burk's and Diaw for Wade and Mirotic. I would be okay with that deal.

Besides Wade's could teach the young guys something and his contract might be somewhat valuable at the trade deadline. Although that's why Chicago might just hang on to him since they have nothing else to spend their cap on.

Mirotic was in the doghouse before the playoffs. Not sure Chicago is very high on him.

Well, the Jazz have been pretty mum about his injuries over the last year. So we don't really know what was wrong/to what extent. I'm sure the team doctors have a good handle on his injuries and what the likelihood of him getting and staying at 100% are.

So if they feel like he his healthy and it won't be a recurring injury, I would be happy to extend him for a reasonable price. My only issue with Favors is I have always wanted to see more passion/fire, but key has been a very good player outside of last season. I don't know who the Jazz could get that would replace his talent (if healthy).

Jazz should definitely be pursuing him. He is one of the best options to put next to Gobert. He is the right age and the right type of player. You have to hope that a new situation helps him a little and that our staff/system can help him as well.

Maybe the Jazz should just make him an offer but my guess is it gets matched if reasonable.
