Brooklyn Or Kennedy For A Girl

Naming a kid is like having the first pick in the draft. Take the safe, sure thing. Don't go for the homerun or you'll likely miss.

Kennedy.

Although kkk brings up a good point that there is no good nickname for Kennedy.

However, there is no "Brooklyn space center" so Kennedy wins by default

I think you've got your answer Stoked. There is no way you can compete with that.

But there is a Brooklyn Bridge and I think it's better to have a baby that's a bridge between two sides than one who's shooting off into space

Did we ever find out what her name is?

Her name is Kennedy and she is in preschool now. As for her nickname, it's Buddha.

Edit: I have since had another child and my only boy. He wasn't supposed to happen lol.

Congrats on the kids. So it looks like the purpose of the poll was to do exactly opposite of the majority. Not a bad plan in naming a child.

Buddha's a good nickname. One of my boys was Buddha for a while, until he grew out of his stomach and got skinny.

By the way, my first grandchild was born about 3 weeks ago. Her name is Harlow - Harlow Autumn.

I have a boy we call "Bubba". He was a "healthy" baby, although the name started because his sister is only 13 months older than him and when she tried to say baby, it came out Bubba. He's a freaking bean pole now, but we still call him Bubba.

Makes me think of my son in reverse. We call him Fred, after my grandfather, although his name is actually Duncan. But when he was born he couldn't gain any weight. The doctors worried, we tried special diets, they admitted him once for malnutrition. It was crazy. He was tiny till he was like 5. Now he is 20, 6'4" and 250 lbs. Anything but a beanpole. He is 3rd on the list of food supplies during the zombie apocalypse.

Nicknames for my kids are Smalls, Baby Girl, Paiges, Buddha and Fat Boy.

fat boy seems kind of cruel, unless he's actually really skinny and there are no other fat kids in your family.

He's not fat or skinny. Just big and our other Littles came up with it. He's just a tank. Working on changing it. They offered up Dopey because his ears stick out lol. I vetoed it.

My kids' nicknames are JJ (kind of boring but the kids started it when they were very little), Peet, Fred and Annieboo.

My family, on my father's side, has this loose tradition of giving the grandkids nicknames. I doubt my grandfather knew my real name. He called me yogi after his favorite baseball player. He had more than 50 grandkids (and great grandkids included) and ALL of them had nicknames, and he never forgot them and always called them by their nicknames. Some of them were unfortunate. My sister was Ickie (pronounced eye-key), my cousin was Stinky, another was called Fart-about. My brother was Shiner due to the fact that he was mentally handicapped and as a kid kept falling down and always seemed to have a black eye. It was kind of fun, all the cousins knew the others' names at one point. My dad tried to keep up the tradition but he didn't have the knack for it his dad did, so Fred was the only one he came up with that stuck. He called my youngest daughter Willie, and he still does, but no one else does. It is their special thing. I am thinking about that for my grendkids but haven't found the right one for my grand-daughter yet.
