Did anyone in New Orleans actually think this was a possibility? Unless you have Cuban/Prokrov money, you probably can't buy the Jazz team name. Not even sure the league would allow it, as it would probably mess up marketing/sales.

Yes, I know this thread is going on nearly a year old, but while searching for quotes from the Jazz owners about the nickname and this thread came up in the search engine.

I just want to point out that overwhelming majority of New Orleans basketball fan knows that the nickname Jazz belongs to Utah and that a snowball has a better chance in hell than we have of getting the name back. Yall have had the name since 1979 and in that time, yall have been to the playoffs multiple times. Had an iconic coach, two iconic players and two finals appearances against the greatest player of all-time. These hot-heads like 504ever and others who make jokes about the Jazz not being relevant to Utah are just idiots and do not represent the knowledgeable NOLA basketball fans who understand why next year we will be the New Orleans Pelicans and not the rebranded New Orleans Jazz..
