So I've had enough of all the groanings and moanings about how the Rep System is set-up/supposed to represent.

So, how about this idea:

- 2 Separate Rep Power Indicators

- 1. Basketball Contribution (Abbreviated form = BballCont)

- 2. Funny Contribution (Abbreviated form = FunCont)

- When you're pos-repping or neg-repping someone you can choose which of these 2 you would like to add/subtract the rep to.

- Your overall Rep Power is therefore shown in 2 separate indicators.

I think it would be a cool piece of statistic showing how each poster contributes to the board - instead of the good ol' rep power which to be honest witchu is getting a bit old and redundant????

It's also a GREAT time to do this now that the new season is starting??????

So who's in favor and who's not?

Well it would just really be 1 extra line showing the 2 rep categories. For example:

Instead of the current display of:

Rep Power: 22

It would show:

Bball Cont Rep Power: 8
Fun Cont Rep Power: 16


I think it would give people an incentive to contribute more in terms of making a better basketball analysis/post/discussion, etc, which I know people have been complaining that it has been lacking a bit lately.

Just a thought.

And as for gameface saying we already have rep and like, well lets get rid of the like button..... especially since in the rep vs like vs none poll it seems like majority of people are against the like system. (I have only liked one post ever)
 
So where would good analysis of social issues fit in? Fun rep?

Should we have a GD rep as well? And a Site-suggestion rep to promote people proposing suggestions to the forum?






One rep is fine. People are bitching about no basketball analysis because there has been nothing to talk about. Wait for literally one more week.

I like hotttnickkkks idea but I don't really care to change the rep system cause it is fine as is.

That's an easy fix. We can group "Good Analysis" together with "Bball Analysis" and abbreviate it "Anal Cont".

So the revised display would be:

Anal Cont Rep Power: 8
Fun Cont Rep Power: 16

This way there is a clear distinction between what the total of your rep power represents.

Today is the first day that I've ever had my doubts.
 
Hmmm.. should have known better to propose a new idea / system for Rep...


Oh well.. can't blame the man for trying.
 
First, I believe someone else proposed this before you, even recently. But I just can't remember who it was. Maybe NAOS.

Second, proposing new ideas and all is good by me and I believe Jason also is probably fine with it. But since most suggestions are made without considering and knowing how this website and its forum software work, I'm hundred percent sure that most of the suggestions are not even feasible.

So, I think people should be a little bit more considerate when it comes to this kind of suggestions. I'm not directing at you Hotttnickkk, btw, just general speaking.

.... well I thought if the "Like" system was able to be implemented, adding a 2nd option when you're pos-repping someone would be a piece of cake.


Anyway I just thought it would be cool to see what how each poster contributes to the board, whether he/she is a Analysis guy or more of a laid back funny guy. PKM has a point about we all know who each poster is anyway - but for guys who are just "lurking" or new posters, I think this function would be quite helpful.

I knew the minute I made that post that "Anal Cont" isn't the best way to put it. But tell me, how else would you abbreviate "Analysis"?

As far as I know, there are features of the forum softwares that can be activated, disabled or modified etc. "Like system" is offered by most of the forum softwares as a default feature. It was probably disabled on this board before. A secondary rep system might be out of the softwares abilities. I don't know this for sure of course, it's just my guess.

As I said before, I'm fine with any ideas/suggestions. No need to defend yourself or your idea, it's interesting enough to consider if it's feasible.
