Steve Luhm: With trade deadline approaching, Is it interesting Jazz head scout David Fredman attended Saturday night's Minnesota-New Orleans?

I will say, though, that there's been more chatter recently to back the notion that Jefferson is staying put for the rest of the season. Which is another way of saying that the Jazz, based on the latest forecasts on the personnel grapevine, intend to either trade Millsap or stand pat until the offseason. ESPN.com

Nothing that hasn't already been said 1000+ times.

I thought the first one was very interesting. Is it common for the Jazz's head scout to attend NBA games that the Jazz are NOT playing in?

I can't speak to the Jazz specifically, but no, not uncommon at all.
Having said that, my opinion is he was there with specific instruction and was watching a player or two.

Its a red herring intended to create leverage with the real target. I figure the Jazz pretended to scout Williams to push Toronto into trading Bargnani to the Jazz and take back Raja Bell.

Or they were looking at Ridinour to make Detroit panick and drop the demand for draft picks in the Milsap/Bell for Stuckey trade.

Or Fredman's Uncle Sid lives in St.Paul and was going in for a procedure so David went out to be with him.

I said this in another thread, but there are other reasons he might have been in MN: the Wolves play the Jazz on 2/14 and the Jazz also scout upcoming opponents. Also Iowa at Minnesota on Sunday, with two players that project in the second round.

Honestly I find those reasons much more likely. The Jazz play the Wolves and Hornets 3-4 times per year plus have reams of data and hours of tape on the current players. I'm not sure they do a lot of in-game scouting before trades, but I do know they do both opponent scouting and college scouting in person.

I hear that we are trying to get Michael Jordan from the Bobcats, they really want Lindsey in return but KOC is only offering Gail. They are at a stand still.

Maybe we can still get Ryan Anderson for Paul? He doesn't mind coming in off the bench and letting it rain from deep. Then we could just let Jefferson walk at seasons end while competing this year

Unfortunately stoked... Both these points have been deeply discussed in other parts of the board...

Your loosing your touch...

But it's okay I still believe!!!!

I swear this is like the 9th time stoked has done this inthe last few weeks hahaha

Son of a motherless goat! Sorry guys. Between moving, dealing with a high risk pregnancy and other things i have been off my game. I will start getting with the program.

Feel free to mock me. I deserve it.

Maybe if there were, say, 30 rounds rather than only 2.

I don't think the Hornets would be down for that. Anderson fits in well with their rebuiliding approach, so I don't know think they'd go after Millsap.

What's fun/interesting is how well Minnesota scrubs played during that game.

I looked at a few of their games of these scrubs and they had little to no points, minutes, etc. However, this game, guys had perfect shooting nights or scored like 11 points, etc. Perhaps they knew our main scout was in the audience and put on a show?

I'm sure the Jazz FO aren't that shortsighted, but it would be interesting if one of those guys were included in an upcoming trade. ;)

Anderson is a good player. Paul is probably more valuable and so they'd have to include a little more to even it out, but I wouldn't mind him on the team.

Although, I'd rather have Batum. I think he's as good or better than Hayward.

I'd love to have Anderson on the team if for no other reason than we won't have to watch Corbin put Favors/Kanter on him while he shoots from 29 feet out
