People use Rudy as some sort of silver bullet that solves every problem no matter how bad. Well guess what. Even Rudy couldn't help Kanter and Trey Burke when they were here. There is some minimal effort and awareness you have to exhibit in order to give Gobert time and chance to help. Also our defense works with Rudy, because he can trust the defenders in front of him to do their jobs and slow down the ballhandler and keep close trailing from behind after the PnR... Some defenders are just too destructive for the scheme even if you have a great anchor.

I’m not disagreeing with what you say, but Rudy has improved a lot from the Kanter and Burke days. He’s almost a complete different player

This is true. Skip Bayless was informing the debating desk panel of how to not sleep on the Jazz as contenders. He mentioned Mike Conley, Rudy Gobert, Don Mitchell, Dante Exum., Bojan Bogdanovic, Joe Ingles. No mention of Royce, although it looked like he ran out of players on his list as he was reading off of, and could not remember who else is on the team. Oh and by the way, he mentioned Niang and Davis.
