What's new

Next years projected lineup

Deron and Miles can both shoot outside. But our game would go inside more, obviously, if we had Big Al and Sap down low. Brown and Brewer would be interchangable and bring different looks. If you have Deron, Brown, and Miles out there you spread the floor more. If AK is playing well you add another shooter at the 3-4.

Nobody is stepping out to guard Miles unless he gets hot. I am a huge fan of his but face it he needs to shoot better outside. If Brewer is in your lineup why would the guys respect the pick and role. You will have 4 players in the lane everytime they run it and that assumes that Miles' man is staying on him.

Basically with very few shooting threats (I don't count the PG as he needs to run the PnR) then how are they going to get looks inside. The only reason it worked (sort of) with Brewer before is because Memo was in the game. Without Memo, Brewer is worthless.

If Jazz get Jefferson, Hayward starts at SG?

This would give Jazz outside shooting to open things up for Jefferson and another ball handler passer to open things up also. Hayward wouldn't be as big a rookie target and could stay on floor longer. Seems like a real possibility now.

How about Roger Mason? Good shooter and heard the Jazz had shown interest in him. I'd prefer Matt Barnes because he's a better defender even if not as good an outside shooter but, i'd take either one of them.

No way Hayward starts... 10 mins a game will be good for him. And I am officially in the get shannon brown here fan club. Brown would be a much better option vs Brewer. Brewer can come back and play minimal mins. Bring on Shannon!

Big Al can create down low, though, which is something we haven't had recently. His down low game is markedly different than Boozer's. Boozer was highly underappreciated on this board, especially for his smarts (sometimes his self-preservation was deservedly dogged). I do think we'll see some problems initially, but I also see some of these changes as strengths if things come together. Big Al and Sap should cause a lot of defenses collapse on them freeing up Deron and Mystery Meat out on the edges. If we have AK or Haywood as a slasher we have a more prototypical NBA offensive set. Should be fun!

yeah! n we need a high flyer who can bring ESA to frenzy once in awhile.. we feed off stuff like that you know

Its possible but would rather have him playing off the bench and ease the pressure and groom him to be the starter in his 2nd or 3rd year. I really like Barnes as a starter. Also like mason and Brewer but as guys off the bench.

Don't know if its been talked about but if none of those guys are available what about josh Howard? Sure he isn't smart in the head but could be a deadly #4 option on our team- capable of averaging 17 points a game. he is un restricted and cheap. maybe sloan could work with him but it would be a huge risk/ high reward move

I agree. I think Brewer is pretty close to a done deal.

Here's how I see it:

C- Jefferson (35), Okur/Fes (13)
PF- Millsap (35); AK (13); KK as needed
SF- AK (21); CJ (12); Hayward (15)
SG- CJ (22); Brewer (26)
PG- Deron (38); Price/Gaines (10)

*Once Okur is healthy, the 4/5 becomes more of 3-man rotation between Jefferson, Millsap and Okur, with Fes maybe getting 10 mins. AK plays more at SF, and Brewer's minutes are reduced.
Also, Hayward may see his minutes increase as he develops. Jazz will be looking to start him in 2011/2012 season (if there is one).

I also foresee the signing of Brewer….

w/o Memo:
(PG) DWill (36) / Price (10) / Gaines (x)
(SG) Brewer (28) / Hayward (22) / Jeffers (x)
(SF) CJ (30) / AK (30)
(PF) Millsap (32) / Evans (6) / Augstine (x)
(C) Jefferson (34) / KoKo (12) / Fes (x)

w/ Memo:
(PG) DWill (36) / Price (10) / Gaines (x)
(SG) Brewer (24) / Hayward (20) / Jeffers (x)
(SF) CJ (28) / AK (28)
(PF) Jefferson (32) / Millsap (28) / Evans (x) / Augstine (x)
(C) Memo (28) / KoKo (6) / Fes (x)

BTW – Evans will be our ’10 version of Millsap (circa ’06)

PG- D-Will/Shaun Livingston/
SG-CJ/Brewer/Shannon Brown/Hayward
SF-AK/Hayward/Brewer
PF-The Pony/Memo/AK/Kosta or Amundsen/Evans?/Augustine/Al Jefferson
C-Al Jefferson/Memo/Fes

As we all know, the SG and SF are basically interchangeable in the Jazz offense. So coach Sloan will have plenty of flexibility there.

LEEEEGGOO!!

This whole shooting thing gets overblown in my opinion. I'm not saying I don't like having shooters as much as the next guy. But it gets talked about like it's the only way an offense can work, or a team can win.

How many shooters did Boston start? I see Pierce and Allen. Those are the only guys who make 3's. KG is a solid jumpshooter. Off the bench they had Robinson (who they swapped for House). Not exactly deep.

How many shooters did LA start? Kobe shot 33, Fish and Artest 35. Forgetting Kobe, nobody loses sleep worrying about Fish and Artest from distance. Off the bench they had Brown at 33, Odom at 32, and Vujacic barely played.

As teams, the Boston was 17th from 3, the World Champion Lakers were 23rd.
