I thought that franchise was headed in the completely right direction. Until they drafted Hackenberg. That pick made no sense, not because he sucked in college, which he did IMO so far as pro prospects go, but because they already had Petty who they were grooming and by most accounts looked solid. He was still fairly far away but at the same time, was coming along nicely. I'm all about BPA but the board should never be completely relegated to that philosophy. Imagine how differently their team might be now and going forward had they drafted a really good O lineman or corner. In any case, I'm curious what they do in the 2017 draft. They have glaring needs at corner and along the line as mentioned. They also have glaring pass rush needs which brings me to my last point. I listen to Sports radio out here and while the Hackenberg pick has been highly questioned at times, i've not heard one thing about the prodcution or lack thereof from their 1st round ILB from Ohio State. On the year he has a whopping 30 tackles and a half sack. That's awful from your 1st rounder.

Their pass d is really shaky. They need another pass rusher or two and a corner.
I haven't followed closely but know the owners undermined the quarterback... why would you do that? It's not like they've got another decent QB waiting to come in.
