Uhh no, you mean the Niners elite defense is killing them. Don't forget the 49ers give up the fewest points, and lead the league in turnover margin.

Little of both... 1 int a high pass to an open TE is not the defense. The 1st pick I'll give credit but Johnson didn't break and didnt turn around. Missed FG is special teams. A non mobile Ben really hurts.

What I will say us the kicker and punter for SF are the MVPs. I miss Sepuleda for the Steelers and we never have had a good solid kicker outside of Reed 1 year.

Gotta love Akers and Lee. David Akers might have been the best player addition by the 49ers in the offseason. Pretty close with the addition of Carlos Rogers. Brad Seely is a hell of a special teams coach.

Well, congrats Katie and I hope they make a run in the NFC. Lions and Niners two teams I cheer for in the NFC. Dont cheer for any other AFC teams outside of Tebow. (joking)

Steelers need help now to avoid a wildcard spot. Broncos, Chargers, or Raiders in the 1st round most likely now.

Thank you. It was a very satisfying win. Especially after a disappointing loss to Arizona last week. What really surprised me about the performance by the 49ers defense tonight, is that they did it without Patrick Willis. This defense really is elite.

Win the yardage total by 100+ yards when things are said and done. 6+ minutes in Possession. Kills me that you turn the ball over 4 times. •deep breaths deep breaths•

It's nice to have perhaps the two best kickers in the league. Only twice did the Steelers start at better than their own 20. Lee had a 62 yard punt, a 57-yarder and put three inside the 10 (and another at the 14). That is just unbelievable punting. Game balls to Lee, Akers and Aldon Smith! Also, what a game by Grant in relief of Willis.

It must be easier to kick in the Bay Area. Both the 49ers and Raiders have the 2 best kickers and 2 best punters in the NFL.

I can't believe Big Ben played in that game. Major props for being tough. Limping around, waiting out those stupid power delays, and taking a beating. I would have pulled the plug early on and played Batch.

If GB can't get their O-line and defense straightened out, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them upset. 49ers are built for the playoffs (great defense and run attack while the QB doesn't make mistakes) and the Saints are IMO, the best team in the NFC right now.

The scary thing about the Saints is, even though Brees is on pace to destroy Marino's yardage record, they have a legit running game and four backs who can each do solid damage in Ivory, Ingram, Sproles and Thomas. Any one of those guys is capable of a 75 yard game. Sproles is downright scary. Ingram is a solid between the tackles runner. Thomas can catch or run. Ivory is just a solid overachiever.

Still wish Saints didn't spend a 1st round pick (and what they had to give up to get that 1st round pick) on Ingram. Yeah he is good, but I don't think he is 1st round pick good.

Yeah, I don't think the Packers come out of the NFC, but it's certainly within the possibility and I am down with that.

WEll, it's better than kicking in the snow, but the swirling winds at Candlestick actually make things tougher. It's just that SF and Oakland actually used draft picks on kickers (Oakland on Janikowski and SF on Lee) and SF believes in paying good money. Of course, SF doesn't exactly have a QB who requires top $, so it's easier to pay a bit extra to go after a kicker like Akers as a FA. Special teams has been a HUGE part of the 49'ers success this season. I think having the kickers they do allows Harbaugh to go conservative inside the 30 and not have to ask Smith to take chances. That's cut down on Alex' TO's and made him a serviceable QB. I know it's considered a slap to call him a "game manager" but I think that fits. Smith stays within his abilities, tries to make the correct decisions, and lets Gore, the defense and special teams win the majority of games for SF.

Typical Phins get out to a lead and then can't get out of their own way to lose.

Also for the 9'ers fans again I can't see how Crabtree and Davis can be superstars when they drop so many passes, Davis had a TD if he catches the ball and doesn't fall out of bounds and Crabtree's wasn't as bad as it was a hard catch but he had it in his hands and his back landing on the ground made him drop the pass and big players don't do that.
