NFL Thread 12-13

RB is super sketchy, but I think WR is insanely deep.

I think the best strategy is to get a stud QB and TE, then start gambling on RB's and WR's and preferrably wait on WR longer than RB. The top 30 WR are all good.

I think Aaron Hernandez is going to have a monster season this year. He almost had 1000 yes receiving last year and defenses are going to roll the coverage towards Gronk and Welker.

I have a weird feeling Gronk is gonna have a disaster season. Like maybe get injured or something. Dunno why.

My dream draft right now is Rodgers or Brady in the 1st, Graham in the 2nd. If I don't get Graham I'll wait a few rounds and get Hernandez.

You couldn't spell out the first name? You gave me a brief scare there. No way the 49ers could be THAT stupid.

lol Vontae. I remember wanting him for the Browns. Maybe change of scenery helps him out. I think he got replaced as a starter and was grumpy.

Solid plan. I play in 3 ff leagues. In the serious money league we had our draft last week. I drafted 9th out of 14 and QBs and tight ends went quick. I think what happened was the top 3 went and then people started to panic. I ended up with Matt Ryan and Matt Flynn, yes unfortunately I bought into the scramble and reached for Ryan with my 4th. The same thing happened with tight ends and I ended up waiting out the mad scramble and picking up the Bengals TE and Kyle Rudolph.

I haven't been able to keep as much as I usually on the Phins (between work and my disappointment on their FO decisions especially Ireland) so far this year but from what little I had read, he showed up to camp a little out of shape which upset the coaches and he had an off season issue (can't remember currently but it wasn't anything serious).

The Phins game against ATL the WR's surprised the hell out of me, I wouldn't think they'd get open enough to get targeted as much as they did, but they made up for it by dropping more balls then they caught, Nanee dropped 4 passes and Fasano dropped 3 (1 TD). Those two had more balls flying at their face then Trout on a Sat. night, they also had more balls drop then when Tout watched Magic Mike.

But seriously I'm not sure how Jeff Ireland still has a job, he's the only hold over from the last "rebuild" and he was the only one I really wanted gone, maybe he had some deal with the hole Parcells thing that kept him having a job because IMO since he was hired in 2008 he has been top 3 worst GM's in the league.

^^^ I'm sure it is just a peachy organization but can we please keep this to football.

Karma got me back today. I've been going to school in the northwest for the last three years, and I have constantly given the Seahawks fans an enormous amount of grief over Tarvaris Jackson. In fact, my nickname for him was "the most catchable interception in the league"...

I will pay for these comments around campus tomorrow.

Even more catchable than this?

Is it me or have the replacement refs actually gotten worse?

They are worse than bad - they're overwhealmed.

Week One, someone is going to lose a game they should have won and it's gonna get ugly.

I've only watched the 4x Phins preseason games and while there have been some bad calls it hasn't been that much of a difference IMO, but then it's just the Phins and the refs know that the game doesn't matter and the out come is already decided so a lot less pressure.

As for the rest of the games, I think all the media pressure and more so lately thanks to the players unions might have helped. It has them even more self conscious and then they sound really bad when explaining the penalty, then the crowd smells blood starts booing and it then gets even worse and so on and so forth.

So that's why I think in some cases they are appearing worse than they had previously.

So much for my strategy.

Had my draft last night, 12 team league $50 buy in 3rd pick.

Got Rodgers with my 3rd pick (awesome) TE started flying off the board like crazy, top 4 or so guys were gone before my 2nd pick. Ended up waiting too long and ended up with freaking Dustin Keller in the 13th round. Need to trade for a TE.

Did really good for a 12 team league though.

QB Rodgers
RB McFadden
RB Fred Jackson
WR Roddy White
WR Victor Cruz
TE Keller (throw up)

Doug Martin, Steve Johnson, Torrey Smith among others off the bench.

I've read mock drafts that have both Rodgers and McFadden in the TOP 5 - I wouldn't worry about your TE so much.

If you're looking for a sleeper you might want to look at NY Giants TE Martellus Bennet. He was stuck behind Witten in Dallas for a few years and the Giants offense always runs red zone pass plays to the TE - I wouldn't be surprised if he finished with 7 or 8 TD's this year.
