"Michael Vick’s comeback is gathering steam off the field as well. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has landed what may be his first commercial endorsement since being release from prison on dogfighting charges. Vick is appearing in a TV commercial for Woodbury Nissan near the City of Brotherly Love. The humorous TV spot shows the kinder, gentler Vick running around the showroom in his Eagles jersey showing sales associates how to save money, signing off on deals and appearing in mock press conferences. Tom McMenamin, executive manager of the dealership, says it is “100%” Vick’s first endorsement since he was released from prison. — USA Today'

I'm a big believer in the redemption of man. While his crimes are horrific in nature, he served his time.

What you should be up in arms about are the bankers in this country.
 
I'm definitely with Chad on this one. Felons, regardless of their crime, should not be able to seek or gain employment after they serve their time.

Also, we should keep building more and more prisons to hold more and more non-violent offenders for life. That'll show'em.

Wait where did I say felons should not be able to seek or gain employment?

Why not? And where should/shouldn't felons be permitted to work? Keep in mind that the more you restrict ex-felons' employment options, the more likely they are to turn back to crime.

At what point does punishing criminals turn from a crime deterrent into a crime incentive?

Should? I don't worry about should. I worry about a company not being allowed to hire whoever it is that they want. Let the market decide if it's the right decision or not.

It's hard for pragmatism to take root in a nation filled with puritanical ideologues, I guess.

Common sense is very rarely used in this country... People are still consumed with fighting along the party lines.
 
This reminds me of Nike endorsing DuhBron and Crymello's people of Utah -- I will never purchase another Nike product. EVER. I think Vick is on the same line as child molesters and rapists, so I will think twice before buying a Nissan.
