No game thread? Favors OUT tonight

Can someone give me their thoughts on minny's young players from tonight's game ? Didn't see the game, at a sun drenched beach enjoying the scenery .. Ahem ..

Seriously
A fully loaded jazz team looks pretty Damn good.
Get Burks favors and exum in there and the jazz will be really good if lyles, mack, and neto keep playing well.

We have a pretty good rotation when we keep burke and johnson out of it.

Replace Burke and johnson with exum and alec and we suddenly become a very deep team

And whomever we draft will probably be Johnson's replacement (more of a SF since Burks will be the first SG off the bench). And the pressure should be off DL with a non-lottery pick. He definitely has the potential to draft a rotation player and given his last few picks he's shown us he is a competent GM.

To have Lyles contribute with Favors out is a luxury. I know in the past we've had a lot of wishing but despite our injuries (which all teams must deal with) we're still playing well despite being such a young team. The Jazz are still learning but I look forward to the remainder of this season.

Wiggins and KAT looked pretty Damn good. Minnesota is going to be tough soon

These important games are so much fun.
I feel like we get extra playoff games due to this tight playoff race and positioning.

Wiggins doesn't scare me as much as I thought he would. He will be a good player, but not transcendent. Part of the problem Towns and Wiggins are going to have is that Minnesota is not a good franchise and they could stagnate there like Anthony Davis is in New Orleans (another loser franchise.) I used to think that a great player should be able to overcome that, but there is something to be said about culture and chemistry. Imagine if we had let the Ty Corbin experiment go on for another 5 years. You would then have something akin to what they have in Minnesota.

Add a healthy version of Exum and Burks, and also replace Burke and johnson with Timothe Luwawu and Gary Payton II or Tyler Ulis, and we suddenly become a very deep team

Fixed that for you.

That wolves vs jazz future argument is allot closer and maybe In the jazz favor if we have the rudy of last season.

He was a straight beast. I remember a stretch (between 5-8 games or something) when rudy was averaging like 18 rebounds, 14 points, and 3 or four blocks a game or something.

I remember a couple of 22 rebound, 16 point type of games from him. His defense was the best in the league.
We were getting salutes somewhat frequently (compared to this year). Everybody was ready to max him.

If that dude comes back then the jazz are going to amazing.

Here is what i was talking about with gobert last year:
He had a stretch games where his rebounds by game were 10, 24, 16, 15, 11, 14, 22, 19, 20, 14.!!! Points during that same stretch were 12, 15, 10, 9, 4, 10, 19, 10, 9, 9. His blocks in those games 6, 3, 0, 3, 1, 2, 4, 4, 2, 1.
In that stretch he had games of 24 rebounds and 15 points. 16 and 10 with 3 blocks. A 22 rebound, 19 point, and 4 block monster game. A 19, 10, and 2 game. Insane!

Then later in the year he had another stretch where his rebounds by game were 17, 10, 14, 15, 12, 12, 15. Points by game were 18, 12, 14, 13, 15, 20, 8. With blocks by game 6, 0, 1, 4, 3, 2, 1.
With individual games of 17 rebounds, 18 points, and 6 blocks!!!!! 15 rebounds, 13 points, and 4 blocks. a 12 rebound 20 point game.

I mean look at those numbers. He was a beast and the jazz were winning.
Can rudy gobert ever put up those kinds of numbers again? If the answer is yes then the rest of the league better watch out.

Edit: He also closed the year with a pretty nice 4 game stretch of very solid numbers. Thats 21 very good games. He was only starting for how many?

Even without those additions we are very deep when healthy. Yes the added depth of those guys will be nice but if we are healthy then we want our rotation to have those guys learning from the bench.

A nice blue pooper on the rear flank. We're running out of space, and that's a good thing.

Good post. I believe that wiggins will be better than you think though. He is very very young and athletic and already is making great strides in his game. I think lavine turns into a good player too. But i agree about the culture chemistry point. I mean i think that if i could pick any player in the league to have on my team for the next 10 years i might take the brow. Yet his team continues to struggle. Maybe he is just too young its just too soon to expect him to carry that team as far as we thing he should.

Doubtful. Minnesota is building their team entirely different than NOLA has. They won't run into the same problems as they have.

Nola sold out too early... Needed to slow build. Although if Gordon, holiday had been healthy they could have had a really solid group. Eric Gordon looked great until every part of his body broke down.

I've never been a Rubio fan but he was incredibly disruptive tonight. I wonder how good he'd look with our defense.

If they decided he was for sale I'd give them a listen. Say they draft Dunn and want to clear some playing time for him. If it was say one first rounder I might go for that. Not sure if they are interested... I definitely wouldn't pay a premium for him but he's interesting.

I think the things that make Rudy seem a little less dominant this year are:

1. Teams game planning; he caught the league by surprise last year and now they're better able to prepare.

2. It's his first season as a starter; it must be an adjustment for him physically, especially after playing for France in the summer.

3. Coming off injury can't be helping.

I think his body will be more ready next year. Hopefully he keeps working on that jumper and jump hook so he can be a threat on offense, too. If that happens, the league is screwed.
