I agree... They can, but if you're counting on a guy (or two guys) at two positions, and he gets hurt, you lose at both positions, and become thin pretty quick.
Last year, i was surprised when the Jazz signed Elson... I was thinking like you are that they had plenty of guys who could play C, but when Okur was not able to go, Elson and Fes both ended up laying a whole lot more minutes than they should have.
I don't think you are wrong at all, but guys do get hurt, and having another back-up who can defend at the C position in a pinch is usually a good investment.
C: Jefferson, Kanter, Okur, Favors
PF: Millsap Favors, Evans
SF: Millsap, Evans, Miles
I love the versatility, but a few key guys playing more than one position (Millsap, Favors, Evans, and possibly Big Al and Okur). If you lose two of them at the same time for a few games, you are thin.
I would like to see a project type Big in the mix somewhere.
