No Plan? No High School Diploma!

The bathroom issue is so dumb. The bathrooms are all stalls anyways. What a stupid issue.

What, bathrooms will lead to sex in the bathroom?

People will spy on girls in the bathroom? I don't know about you, but what girls do in the bathroom is pretty nasty.

In school-age kids I get it. It made the girls in my daughter's school uncomfortable to walk into the bathroom and find a guy standing at the sink watching them. But the decision was that their discomfort in having a boy use the girl's room was less important this his discomfort in using the boy's room apparently. I agree the issue is really nuts, but when the decision is made to do something about it the logic used is pretty nuts too.

I'm a pretty big fan of if you're in the minority of something that makes people uncomfortable that you should be the one that has to deal with it opposed to having the masses be "accepting"

Also I think those whole "I identify as ..." whatever it may be has gotten completely out of hand but I've often been told I lack empathy, of course there are studies that claim that's a sign of intelligence so I'll take it.

Not according to the article. They need an acceptance letter from a college, not just a plan to go to college, a written job offer, acceptance into an apprenticeship program, military enlistment or a gap-year thing, I have no idea what a gap-year is. They don't just say "I plan to go to college" they need acceptance to a college.

A gap-year is one year between high school and college during which kids can work or moreso, endure some life experience like traveling to Namibia and volunteering for the Red Cross for nine months or something...the experiences vary widely.

Be self sustaining and all that.

This isn't some crazy thing. Just show you will do something other than go on welfare. It's a great idea. Help kids grow up. Make them think about their future. Show them they can be/do something with their lives.

I do not owe my government or my community anything simply by existing. I have the right to NOT act. I have the right to not join in. I do not have to be livestock. I can follow any path I choose, even if it is not "productive" for my community. I am an individual and maintain my independent sovereignty as such. I owe you nothing.

I don't like the idea of being forced to have a plan just to get your diploma but I would fully support that you are not eligible for any government assistance until you have been employed for a specific time and at no point in life can the time on assistance pass the time employed or a certain % of that.

I won't accept things like that as normal and ok and if that makes me a bigot so be it. The issue isn't societies problems in a case like that to me it's trying to figure out what's going on with the person

I don't get this at all and I completely don't support it. What if my plan is to be a street performer? What if my plan is to be a stay at home parent? What if my plan is to form a paramilitary revolutionary cell? What if I fell off a fence and saw the holy ghost who told me to start my own religion?

Absolute insanity. How many 17 or 18 year olds have a realistic idea of their future? Hell I had no idea that I'd end doing what I am as a 17 year old leaving high school. It was already a time of huge pressure, about results, university placements and all the other **** that goes with being a teenager. What teenagers really need is more pressure. I still plan on starting that paramilitary revolutionary cell tho...

as long as college gender studies is considered a plan. you will be in debt and welfare anyway

exactly my whole live with school trips, school cafeteria i have been in the minority when it comes to dietary requirements(kosher)!

have i ever forced people on school-trip to get kosher meal, or whatever.

no i shut the **** up and bring my own food. and let the majority do what they want!

If you had been in charge, women would still not be able to vote, society would still be segregated, etc. I'm glad that minority populations speak out and right society's wrongs.

I have no idea how it feels to be transgender, and I certainly do not believe that I have the right to tell them how to feel. If someone is living as a girl, it only makes sense for them to use the ladies' restroom. It is dangerous to make them use the men's room. Someday we'll all be more enlightened on this issue, just like we've been enlightened on so many others.

But back to the graduation issue. It seems really unfair to someone who plans to get married right out of high school and be a stay-at-home mother. Do they have to provide a wedding invitation, an ultrasound, a letter from their fiancé? If someone plans to move to New York or Los Angeles to become an actor, who are they going to get a letter from? Holding a diploma hostage to make people fit into little boxes is a bad idea couched in good intentions.

Wow you guys sure do know how to blow things out of proportion. There are certain things you are and certain things you're not. Apparently if I identify as a team owner for the jazz they owe me a suite to watch the games and if I identify as a billionaire you should all give me your money until I am one.

There's a huge difference between civil rights and saying you are something that can be genetically proven you're not.
