NON-JAZZ NBA PLAYOFF thread

Why wouldn’t he run? I guess one question is where can he go. I haven’t paid attention. Is he a free agent or have an option this summer?
Miami... and yes he has an option and will be a free agent. It’s more likely they try and spin off PG and he stays but I’m not sure how you’d be able to run it back.

The Clippers don’t have a SINGLE first-round pick until 2027.

They paid Luke Kennard a 4-year 64M contract after trading their 2020 first-round pick for him. He hasn’t played a SINGLE second for them in these past 2 playoff games.

They signed Marcus Morris to a 4-year 64M contract.

They signed Paul George to a 4-year 190M contract.

Kawhi Leonard has a player option on his contract after this season. He could legitimately be a FA this off-season. I would say the odds are that he leaves rather than staying.

The only three players on their books past 2022 is George, Morris and Kennard. George’s salary includes paying him:

39.3M when he’s 31
42.5M when he’s 32
45.6M when he’s 33
48.8M when he’s 34

I honestly can’t think of a worse situation in the NBA going forward and it couldn’t have happened to a better franchise.

jazz havent even gotten past memphis yet.....we might not even make it past them. im not gona laugh at the clippers.

How is it possible for the Clippers to not have a 1st round draft pick until 2027? I thought league rules precluded teams from trading 1st round picks away in consecutive years. So, wouldn’t they at least have to have one pick every other year?

Pick swaps in 2023 and 2025. So they will have one in both of those years. It will be the lesser of theirs and OKC’s. I meant to put their own first-round pick until 2027.

The moves all looked good at the time, but maybe Jerry West is losing his touch. Also great that the media crowned them and the Lakers as being the only contenders the past two years.

Locking up George for that long when Kawhi has a player option isn’t the best idea. Sounds like years of lottery picks they won’t have lol.

He wanted to play at home. He got his wish. Only place to run is Lakers - maybe after Lebron retires?
I'm sure if he wants in they will figure out a way to add him to the roster.

And by "they" I mean the league of course.

But he could have gone to them already, yet he did not want to be a second fiddle to Lebron. Guy is quiet but has a big ego. He wanted to win as main man in Clippers.

The Kennard deal was always a little questionable given that they already had so much perimeter talent. I think Morris was an overpay but that was kinda the market. I think they can move most of those contracts... I don't think the Kennard deal is fully guaranteed so it looks higher than it actually is... I think. I don't know that they can move those guys for value though.

I think these guys are a little bit full of themselves and didn't think they'd have to grind. The shooting in the series likely calms down for the Mavs a bit here but they still likely win as they have a larger margin for error with the lead they've built.

The Mavs have two games at home and they only need to win one and they're walking away with a 3-1 advantage. I'm stating the obvious, but even if Dallas is sub-par for a couple games, they should likely walk away having a huge advantage.

Right... but then you drop game 5 and momentum can build on you.... Mavs are shooting 50% from three... Clips can get hot in one game and Mavs can get cold in another and they are at 2-2. Anything that can happen, can happen in reverse. The series is far from over.

As we all know, once you go up 3-1 in a series, it’s over… ;)

Mavs are shooting so good because their threes are literally WIDE OPEN every time.

AB doing work... @fishonjazz needs to be watching. Impressive dude... love how chill he is.

NY just has no answer for the hawks starters. The hawks bench looked like **** but the starters are fire.
