NON-JAZZ NBA PLAYOFF thread

Big series for the franchise and its future. Really, I can't recall a bigger series since the Stockton and Malone Finals teams. Since the 2000 playoffs ended, which really was the swan song for the Jazz ever being a contender (they had the #2 seed in the WC that year - the last time until this season that they had a top-three seed) under Stockton and Malone, the Jazz has lost in either the first or second round 11 times (hell, throw in the 1999 and 2000 seasons for good measure and it's 13 now). Only once, 2007, likely a result of the Warriors upsetting Dallas in the first-round, has the Jazz made it beyond the semifinals.

We've gotta step up and deliver a deep playoff run or I think I'm going to lose total faith in this franchise's ability to ever do it. If not now, with home court, and the top seed in the NBA, when?

I can't think of a more important series since the Finals on just how much this may boost Utah overall as a franchise and move them a rung or two up the contender ladder, even if they bow out in the WCF or NBA Finals without winning it all (to be sure, tho, win this round and that WCF series becomes just as important).

But now is the time to bust out of the semifinals and get back tot he Conference Finals. We gotta beat the Clippers.

I'ma try to be at game 3. I'm good luck! The last playoff game against the clippers I attended was Joe Jesus' last second shot to win it. I'm excited to bring them good luck again!!
What day is that supposed to be?

I’m very nervous about this series... I think the Clips are the toughest west team left for us. It isn’t a dire situation like with Houston or the Warriors a few years ago where there isn’t hope.

I think the winner of this series ends up representing the west. If Mike is healthy I’d give us a real good shot at it... if Mike doesn’t play or is really limited I think we might be screwed.

Im expecting Morris to shoot like 75% from three and for PG to look more like playoff P than playoff pee. I think they bring Bev back for the series too to guard Don and/or Mike. If serge can’t play that’d be helpful.

If I had to guess... I think there is a 40% chance we beat them.

I really don't have a strong feeling either way. I think it'll be a challenging series but I could see the Jazz winning it in five or six, and also losing it in six or seven (hard to imagine only getting one win in this series, tho). But really, I think this series is really going to be defined by the first two games. I fully think we can win at Staples, especially with their limited capacity. So, if Utah can jump on them and go up 2-0, get a win in Los Angeles, I think we'll be sitting pretty .

IF the Clippers come out and steal game one or two, tho, I don't know ... yes, we came back against Memphis and won four straight. But this ain't Memphis. Like I said, I think we could win on the road, so, I won't panic too much (unless we go down 2-0 like the Clips did to Dallas lol) but I do think 2-0 is pretty important for the Jazz, especially at keeping this series from going seven.

They need 7 games to beat dallas.
We are better than dallas.

We got this!
I wish things transferred like that. Some teams are just match up hell for other teams.

The Jazz needed five games in 1998 to beat the Rockets (back when the first-round was best of five). I don't think that really meant much of anything beyond the fact the Jazz struggled for that series with Houston and eventually turned it on, blowing past the Spurs 4-1 in the semifinals and then sweeping the Lakers in the WCF.

We need Bubble Mitchell, and we need Gobert to dominate the paint. We also need both Clarkson and Conley to score effectively.

Did you see how pathetic Dallas's rebounding was. It was why they lost.
Last time we met them they beat us 116-112, They got 45 rebounds compared to us 38. But I thought it was Lou williams who killed us, he dropped 19 pts off the bench. Now he's gone.

Dm scored 35 and Mike scored 33 against them in the regular season.

Luka scored 40, 39, 44, 19, 42, 42, 46. Luka destroyed Beverly, he isn't an elite defender as the media made him out to be.

Kawhi and PG played 40+ minutes in 6 out of 7 games vs. Dallas.

I think the key would be clarkson and our bench and hopefully Joe wakes up.

Still it can go either way. Go jazz!

Our bench is always the make or break reason for our overall success. If they play to their strengths we win this series in 6 games.

Beverly didn't even play in game 7 btw

The Rockets were the 8 seed that year because of injuries. They were absolutely one of the best teams in the West at full strength, which they were for the first 3.2 games of that series.
