North Korea rejects torpedo findings, threatens war

I agree with this. I can't stop thinking of the 46 sailors that were killed. What of them? So. Korea is going to just bluster about this and the UN will ignore it and hope they give up? If 46 American Sailors were killed you can bet that a North Korean ship would have gone down. It is complete ******** that No. Korea is most likely going to get away with this and the international community will turn a blind eye.
With our current leadership, I actually doubt if we would have done much if it were our ship that went down. We would have 'strongly' condemned them and said we have appointed an independent panel to work out the details.

I wonder if a North Korean ship would mysteriously sink a few weeks later.

A ridiculous claim. But congrats on being an exemplar of why politics is so screwed up in America right now.

Any bombing the U.S. does on North Korea, with either a democrat or republican in the White House, will result in the demolition of Seoul.

So do you think we would bomb them or add sanctions to the already existing sanctions? Maybe get a UN resolution going?

I'm positive that if the North Koreans affirmatively attacked and destroyed a ship belonging to the United States that U.S. military action against North Korea would occur. I don't know if it would be bombings specifically, or if it would be some sort of other strike if it happened. But I'm positive that the U.S. wouldn't just let it go.

Even for those who have no faith in the present leadership of America, think about it cynically and from the perspective of self-interest. If Obama failed to respond he would be assured electoral defeat in 2012. He could not afford to not respond.

Come on guys, you can't seriously be suggesting that the President would be completely ok with a foreign power attacking the U.S. military. What an absurdly radicalized position.

I will say that I also believe that, if Obama introduced a war resolution to the U.S. Congress, Republicans would uniformly vote against the resolution so that they could run campaign ads sticking Obama with any negative consequences.

Marcus, I figure we would do what we always do, and do best, ya know? We would send in tons of U.S. soldiers with strict instructions to indiscriminately waste every man, woman, and chile they come across, eh?

I actually hate you now. Congratulations!

People aren't aware of this fact, I don't think. PRNK can pretty much flatten a major world city in an hour or so. The Seoul metro area has 24 million people in it. I think a war between North and South Korea would result in the worst tragedy in human history. People wonder why we picked on Iraq and seem more focused on Iran than the PRNK. The reason is because the PRNK can kill so many people so quickly. Seoul is a hostage to this political tension.

What are ya there, eh, Game? Some kinda Republican, or sumthin, that it?

No, I despise Republican ideology. I have served in the U.S. military, however. I never received an order to kill innocent women and children. I did, on the other hand, spend more than 3 years of my life deployed on a U.S. naval vessel, missing time with my wife and son, thinking that I was doing something good for my fellow countrymen. For you to make a stupid *** comment like that, disparaging the service of hundreds of thousands of young men and women, is pretty low. In my opinion the U.S. has used it's military power overwhelmingly for the good of mankind.

If you'd like to discuss this in person I'd be happy to have an opportunity to kick you in the teeth.

Well, I git my facts at Moveon.org. They kinda warn ya, though, that republicans will hate ya for tellin the facts, so, I just kinda figured.....

So when you want to get together and "talk" this out?

Well, I'm just a parrot, here, see? Mebbe ya should autta talk to them moveon peepz.

Yeah, you're just funnin. I get it now. I get all emotional when the Lakers win. Sorry.

No prob, homey. I wuz kinda debatin whether I should fess up, but I knowwed ya would probably figure it out for your own damn self.

Just as soon as I've left enough rep for other people that's another +1 for you.

There is a precedent for it though isn't there?

USS Stark was attacked by the Iraqi's in 1987 and USS Liberty was attacked by the Israeli's in 1967.

Both a Democratic and Republican president allowed such an act to slide with only a token response.

Mind you, as you mentioned in the current political environment Obama could not afford to act as all the nutters would be frothing at the mouth for revenge regardless of the consequences.
