What's new

Not again

Leisa update: leisa has stage 4 cancer. It has spread from her stomch into the lymph nodes around the stomach to the lymph nodes in her neck. They also found cancer in the bone on her spine.

Tomorrow they will be putting a port in and on monday she will receive her first chemo. The chemo they will be using is called folfox.

They are concerned about the tumors on her spine because if they grow they could put pressure on her spine and cause immense amount of pain or even damage. So starting next week she will go through radiation therapy on her back. It is a 10 day process.

After that she will be going in every 2 weeks for chemo. This will be indefinitely. They can not remove it because it has already spread into her lymphatic system. All the chemo is for is to help alleviate pain and prolong her life.

The hardest part and the part we need to beat is the lingest anyone had lived with this type of cancer is 5 years. Most people live 1 to 2 years.

Please i ask for your faith and prayers for leisa and our children. It is going to be especially difficult for britton and mckenna after seeing their oldest brother battle it and die.

My baby sister updated our family last week. They can't pin down what type of cancer she has for sure despite genetic testing. It has spread into her lymphatic system and her liver. They told her that they will not be able to clear her liver and that she will never be cancer free. They are going to do 3 rounds of chemo and if it doesn't respond they recommended that she transfers to do clinical trials. It sucks. She's such a sweet person and a great mother of a little boy. I can't believe she has to face this just as she's getting started.

Leisa update: i will give as much info as i can. I am out of the loop which is very frustrating.

The radiation started this week. Leisa now has a tatoo on her back ... Ok it is only a dot. The radiation is kicking her butt. She is very tired, hence the being out of the loop.

On friday they went in and put a stint in her lower stomach by the duodenum. This is one of the things that has been a pain since her accident.

The other stint in her liver is impacted and they can not get it out. That is not draining her liver properly and pushing an infection back into her blood.

That blood infection is what caused this latest trip to the hopsital. They are pumping her full of antibiotics but of course add that wuth the chemo killing her immune system. The good news is her blood infection is dropping.

The last and by no way the least is the chemo, she will have another treatment on wednesday. So another week of mouth sore and nausea.

As for me, i know i am not all that important compared to what leisa is going through, but my job is doing ok but way to slow. Could use some foot traffic.

I am being eatin alive watching my beloved leisa struggle as she fights through this. I would switch places with her in a heartbeat.

I have no doubt that's true.

Stay as strong as you can for her.

thanks for the update. too bad about the stent in the liver causing problems, and that they can't seem to do anything about that - but glad the antibiotics seem to be getting the infection down. one step at a time, I guess.

holding positive thoughts for you and your family

Heartbreaking. So sorry that your family is going through this. Make sure to find a reason to smile or laugh with Leisa each day. She needs it more than anything.

Despite some obstacles, it sounds like there's been some progress. Stay strong, brotha. My thoughts and prayers are with you. All of ours are.

What's your job and how do we help? I'll gladly do anything I can to kick business your way.

I run a verizon store in logan. We do cell phone, internet, cable, home security.

I was in that store a couple months ago. I can't remember what the issue was, but I do remember that it got solved and that the staff was great. Seems like my phone was having some memory issues or something.

Leisa update: she is back in the ICU of the huntsman. Her lungs are filling with fluid. She cant breath and has to have a cpap. On top of that she has a blood clot on her lungs.

This is not cancer related but from the accident she had back in october.

The hardest part is she is tired of fighting. She is tired of the pain and just wants to be done.

I am very sorry man. Stay strong. Life is for us, and everything else in it. The good and the bad. I feel for your losses and struggles.

Poor girl! Sounds awful what she is having to go through.

Leisa update 1.2: they are going to put leisa on a ventilator with a feeding tube. They will then have to sedate her to keep her calm.

The ventilator is to try and control what is going on in her lungs while they try to get rid of the blood clot and fix the fluid that is causing the pneumonia (sp).

This is not with out risk as it can worsen the pneumonia. There is also the possibility that she will never recover.

The feeding tube is to control her nutrition level because she is retaining a ton of water. The protien will help dissipate the water retention.

You know a sad thing is my wife was a huge jimmer fan and i sent a request to see if he would come visit my wife to lift her spirits. In the hospital so he knows we are not making it up nut never heard a thing back.

I know he is busy but what is 10 minutes when you are already in town.

The hardest part is she is tired of fighting. She is tired of the pain and just wants to be done.

I would imagine this is the hardest part. To be in pain, be sick, and everything related to it constantly. The desire to fight would quickly go away, no matter what you have to fight for.
My thoughts and prayers are with you man.
