Game Thread Nov 06, 2021 05:30PM MT: Jazz at Heat

Added to Calendar: 11-06-21

Jazz got some good data today. JC was -27 in under 20 mins. Ingles was negative. Gobert was -20, but I think it's because the Heat built their entire game plan around him.

I'm not sure I'm following you here...good data? Are you saying we should give up on JC and Joe because they had a bad plus/minus in one game?

Not give up on them, no. But other than the Denver game where the Nuggets attacked Bogey, the Jazz got to see some of their weaknesses. Ingles has struggled against long, athletic defensive teams. He likes to play at his own pace, and sometimes teams won't let him. Clarkson just had another dud shooting game like he's had all season.

I ain’t even mad. Felt like we got their best shooting game and we shot pretty poorly. Guys played well… defense was solid except for like 4 minutes early in the fourth. Sometimes guys make shots… we were due to get a hot shooting night from someone.

Do you know why no team want him?
Because he was cut in the middle of preseason, he missed last year, he’s got a very specific skill set and a limited offensive game. Basically, the kind of team that would be one to look at him would be a contender who needs a perimeter defender and can live with his offensive limitations.

Yeah, I like this loss. Jazz will win in Orlando and go to 8-2. This will wake them up for the next group of games. It will also make the coaches and front office start to wonder how much we can really rely on Ingles, Clarkson and Bogdanovic against long, athletic teams. It might also nudge them to think about experimenting with Rudy Gay at the 5.

Heat game-planned for the Jazz really well, but they also hit a ton of shots that they won't always make.

JC just missed shots… bogey was good. Heat were white hot… we were meh… 3 point loss on the road.

They had like three jumpers go front rim and in… Martin made a shot he would miss 19/20 times… jc draped all over him and he makes a lucky three.

We good.

I will say… the Heat some whiny bitches. Bam hip checks Don and complains for ten minutes. Lowry clothesline’s Royce and acts like it’s the worst call ever (I honestly thought he should have gotten a tech there… his complaining was excessive). PJ Tucker complains any time they call a foul on him even though he murders people all game.

Joe's got to stop passing up open shots. He was a lot better about not doing that as much last season but it feels like he's back to being more passive this season. When you're a career 42% 3 point shooter and have hit more 3's than anyone in franchise history you need to just let it fly. Watching him pass up open shots so that Paschall can brick a 3 is so incredibly frustrating.

I think the Jazz are going to want Rudy Gay to be a significant contributor, like 15/5/3-type contributor.
Yeah you’re wrong… part of the reason he came here is we had a smaller role for him… said he didn’t come a couple years ago because what we needed from him was too big for his current age. He will get 15-20 minutes a night. Only gets more if there are injuries or he’s rolling.

Bojan also needs to get his shot off faster. A few too many pump fake and drives for my liking.
