Game Thread Nov 11, 2021 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Pacers

Added to Calendar: 11-11-21

Hopefully Ryan Smith has Rudy Gay incubating in a massive multi-million dollar cryogenic tank, and he comes back on the court playing like 2008 Rudy Gay dunking on everybody, because we need something like that to get back to dominance.

The refs were awful tonight though. I think they got caught complaining a couple times but the biggest thing is when the refs are allowing people to get murdered we need to increase how physical we get.

I’m not surprised tempers flared. When you let too much contact go you will have frustration plus physicality and it gets ugly.

We were complaining all game whether there was a bad/missed call or not. On top of that they just didn't give a damn about competing and let the Pacers get a million offensive rebounds. I don't care how bad the refs are, don't let it affect your play. It does nothing to help you when you're right and it definitely doesn't help you the other times when you're complaining to complain and think the world is out to get you.

I don't have any sweeping statements from tonight...Just that the team played like a bunch of crybabies tonight. Let a 4-7 team on a B2B walk all over them and had no response other than to cry to the zebras. The only positive thing I saw tonight was Quin benching Gobert. Then when he came back in he actually started playing basketball and things went better for him. Quin needs to go back and treat everyone on his team like rookies again and not allow them to complain.

We will lose Saturday, if not from not being able to get our head out of our ***, then from the fact that we’re down 2-3 guys to suspensions.

I agree we were not intense or focused enough. TJ McConnell can’t go off like that. I don’t think we lost cuz we complained. We lost because we had a lot of lapses and also didn’t fight hard enough when the refs decided to swallow their whistles all night. The refs were pretty lazy too so maybe they are Jazzmen?

Yeah tonight should have been a schedule win if we either - play hard or shoot well… we decided not to do either and lose our cool.

Hate to agree with Jom but this. Our defense is centered around rim protection and never fouling. They were supposed to not call the ******** moves but they have turned that into never calling anything. We can adjust or have nights where the other team roughs us up and we are disadvantaged.
it has to be roster adjustment. We have too many players that tend to shy away from contact. well now league's encouraging contact again. an enforcer like Crowder would definitely help a ton under this current environment.

The worst part is… what the **** was Rudy doing. He’s so awkward… that was the most awkward… ummm hug? Shove the guy or like go forehead to forehead… an awkward hug thing is what you came up with?

With some of these changes it’s hard to say what will stick. Putting some additional physical defenders is a good idea… maybe Oni can be good at defense now.

We got a **** whistle no doubt, but we played **** D all night. I wonder what set Donovan off? something must have been said.

Question to the forum DOES JOE LEAD THE LEAGUE IN EJECTIONS?

Several of our lapses were because we were too busy complaining or trying to get a call. Other lapses cannot be explained by anything other than they didn't give a ****.

I don't even think the refs were that bad tonight. I hate everything about inserting officiating into the conversation and tonight was not one of those nights where I thought the officiating would even be worth mentioning. We lost because we were very bad and quit on so many plays. All this talk about not being able to adjust to the physicality or there being inconsistencies....it wasn't like TJ McConnel was flying over our backs and getting away with stuff to get those offensive rebounds. It was just **** effort and that's why we got this result. Getting back on defense or simply boxing out isn't about fighting hard. That's minimum effort and if you don't have it expect to beat.

The refs were bad. They elected to not call anything. It was at least fairly consistent. There was so much contact… when you don’t call it guys get frustrated and go harder… we played like **** too… don’t get me wrong. But the refs deserve mentioning in this one.
