What's new

Meh. He got buried on a pick today which led to a three and picked up a dumb foul for two free throws.

Two things that would have got Butler benched.
Don't forget his dumb traveling violation because he got stuck under the basket with nothing to do with the ball.

I fell like Mitchell is on the verge of a breakout. If he gets his jumper back I think he will solidify himself as an All NBA type player. His scoring around the basket and defense have been wayyyyy better this year.

We drafted Butler. Forrest wasn’t a draft pick. We can’t keep burning draft picks and not playing them. Eliza, Doh, and Butler are all recent draft picks and aren’t contributing ****. That’s not good. Either we need to draft better, trade these picks, or our coach needs to play and develop them. This is terrible asset management. We’re wasting assets.
Plus we gave Golden State money for Oni's draft pick.

Like I said, I want him to play as much as anyone. Butler should get the minutes purely based on talent, but he would make things easier if he wasn't awful every time he got a chance.

I can't really blame a coach for sitting a second round pick who has not played well at all, especially on a veteran contending team. IMO, the decision to play Forrest is much more confusing than the decision to bench Butler. Doubt there are many 40th picks who minutes while playing like **** on a winning time.

By playing Forrest we're getting the worst of both worlds where we have an ineffective player in the present while also playing the player with the least potential.

guys don't do much during their rookie season all the time. If butler's situation carries into his second year then it might be a good time to panic.

That bench rotation with Ingles, Clarkson, Gay and Whiteside is going to be a beast for teams to deal with. They're big, they shoot and they move the ball.
If you throw Gay out there, all of the sudden Joe slides to the 3rd Defensive assignment and becomes a lot more serviceable on defense and has much more room to shoot.

The clone of NWG.

Just brutal

we could play him a lot more. First, we don’t need to be playing Mitchell with 6 mins left in the game almost up 20. They ain’t coming back. Second, give him clankson’s mins. “Load manage” him for a few games and see how it goes. True, we’re a contending team. But isn’t that why we’ve decided to sit guys out since the regular season doesn’t matter as much as the playoffs?

If we want to play players based on what they’re producing, Clarkson should be one of the last off the bench.

Someone's got to mention how horrific TOR's defense is btw. They play 4v3 every possession and as long as you don't turn it over you get a free dunk or wide open 3.

Yeah I've pointed out that we can field 4 legit starting caliber players off our bench. Once it all starts clicking it will be a nightmare matchup. Mixing and matching with the actual starters means we can keep a full starting lineup on the floor pretty much all all times. Now that's depth.
