What's new

Nov 9 2019 - UTAH JAZZ vs TORONTO RAPTORS CGT

nah... that would be not even close to rock bottom. Breaking all time Jazz worst start would be rock bottom. We still have 5 games to reach that.
Nope. Rock bottom would be setting the NBA record with only 8 wins (for an 82 game season).

Face it folks...

this team is a disaster.

We got rid of the shooters from last year that sort of kept this team afloat. We got rid of the reliable bigs. Favors isn't near the offensive player that Millsap/Al were. Kanter is too turnover prone and is being attacked relentlessly on defense. And Ty Corbin doesn't have a clue. This isn't a surprise. Nor is it any different than the past few years. The difference is, when we relied on individual talent, Devin harris, Mo, Big Al, and Millsap could score better than what we have today.

We either need a coach who can implement a system ala Sloan did in 03 to take advantage of our subpar talent. Or we need to significantly upgrade the talent. Or both.

Hopefully we get rid of Corbin and get a guy who has a proven system (like Hollins). This summer? We not only need to fill in the gaps but we need to get ourselves a franchise player. We don't have one. And if Hayward feels like he should be paid like one then let him leave after this year. He clearly isn't.

This team would struggle to win 8 times in a 164 game season. Blown out by nearly everyone thus far. Even the Queens and Bobcats can't wait to play us.

Serious question: Is Kanter-Favors a worse defensive duo than Millsap-Jefferson?
Right now: YES! Something has to be done about that. With so many injuries, I guess there's no way to really send a message. But at some point...if this continues...Kanter and Favors should be benched for a quarter with Gobert and ? starting. Light a fire, let them know this kind of uninspired play is UNACCEPTABLE.

Great points. And I think that's the whole purpose of this season. Get a franchise player with a top-5 pick (hopefully top-3). Add another solid rotation player with the GS pick. And likely pick up either a starter or 6th-man type veteran in free agency or via trade (i.e. relieving a team with cap/tax problems). AS bad as this is, the Jazz are not that far away from having a solid core of 8-9 players that can develop into a playoff team and maybe even a contender. Hayward, Kanter and Favors are/will be solid starters. Burks and Gobert are/will be decent rotation players. That's 5 right there. And we're not counting Trey and perhaps Neto. Then add a couple of firsts and a very early second in the draft. That's 10 pretty good assets to either keep or trade as needed.

Hayward saw this and text me. He's crying really hard. His hot gf had to wipe his tears with benjamins. True story.

Lol

Plus a new coach

This too.

It really ticks me off when I see the Suns with even worse talent compete quite well. Heck, they're #1 in their division right now. We might have let the COY slip through our hands. This team should have been his. Unbelievable.

I wish someone could bench Corbin to let him know this kind of uninspired coaching is unacceptable.

I get the Jazz aren't supposed to be good this year. I can accept that.

This loss however is one of the most embarrassing losses I've seen. It's just mind numbingly bad.

Burks scored 17 points on 10 shots. He's a really valuable player because he draws so many fouls, and despite his iffy shot selection he's actually a very efficient scorer on most nights.

Stats mean nothing when we are getting blown out of games. Watching the games it is plain to see that of our core 4, only one is consistently playing NBA starter quality basketball.

We have a long way to go before we have four all-stars on this team.

I used the Raptors game as an example to illustrate my point, not to say that it alone proves it. Burks has been an efficient scorer his entire career. Could he be more consistent? Sure, but overall, he's an extremely solid scorer for an SG.

Lol your bar is to high. There will never be 4 all stars from utah at the same time. Also keep in mind that this team basically has 5 healthy players worth a damn.

Harris, Clark, Lucas, Biedrins, Tinsley, Marvin and Jefferson suck. Evans and Burke are injured. That only leaves 5 active players worth a damn and one is a rookie and 3 had limited minutes and opportunities for on the job learning till now.

It will be ugly, and long. But come October our team could look like:

Favors/Gobert
Kanter/Evans
Parker
Hayward/Burks
Burke/ Neto

With another draft pick (GST)and a pair of free agents. Keep in mind it won't be there C5 we have now it will be a C5 that has grown and learned. WITH A NEW COACH!

So grab a chair, eat some of my popcorn if you'd like and look at Hayward, Burks, Burke, Kanter, Favors, Gobert and Evans. Ignore the rest. Keep in mind we want them learning ball like we want them to play next year. Ball movement, smart shots, team d, chemistry, running the floor.

None of this ball hog hero ball some are now calling for. Learn the right skills.

While we are getting blown out by everybody, look at what Hornacek is doing.

Are the suns really that much more talented?

Ya, I think that was kinda the point of nates post that quoted

Utah Jazz the weakest team in the NBA. There may be a few young players with talent, but if that is all the asset you have, you are far short as a team of the strength level needed in NBA. There are four, max five, players that should be on NBA roster, and none among them is anything special. Whoever are responsible for designing this roster to arrive at this point after departure of Millsap and Big Al have done a horrible job. The Jazz will be a bottom five team for the foreseeable future.
