Wait, what about D-League call ups?
Please call up Dee Bost for me.

No one is going to take a job in the middle of a season. Why else do you think it doesn't happen. There's no time to implement your philosophies. It's too big of a risk for that coach. That coach can't bring in his own assistant coaches, because he has to run the system already in place. Because he's not familiar with the offense. If he doesn't produce, he could be fired before he ever gets a chance to run his own program and get his players. So your notion that nothing else matters is idiotic, because anyone worth hiring isn't coming to Utah half way through a season. If he did he'd be risking his job security. If you want to fire your coach in that fashion, fine, but you are then going to have to hire an assistant under Ty, and that usually motivates that team to win more, and we don't want that. We may as well let Ty finish out the year.

Trade Jefferson. Whereas Marvin appears to want to be in Utah, RJ doesn't seem to. He is truly a rental.
Great post - except that #1 is just not compatible with #2, #4 and #5. If you keep Ty, then trading Jefferson (and probably Marvin also) is the only way to truly get Burks, Kanter and Gobert out there more. It should have happened by now. If DL really want to tank, he will have to be the one to force Ty to live without the two vets. Ty won't do it on his own.I'd deal Jefferson or Williams in a heartbeat. But it takes two to tango. You can count on one hand the list of trade partners that are even possible due to the salaries. And in most cases, those teams don't need a SF or stretch-4. Better options are available throughout the league. There are just too many sellers. And few teams willing to deal 2014 picks. Or, many already have.
1. Let Corbin finish out the year. He helps the tank.
2. Less Jefferson after the trade deadline.
3. I don't mind having Burks continue to come off the bench. Many teams have a token 5th starter and bring one of their better players in mid-first.
4. More Gobert. This is tricky because it means less Favors and Derrick needs to continue to play and develop.
5. More Kanter.
6. Less Burke. Use the "rookie wall" excuse. Find a way to get Lucas and Clark in the games.
7. Every minor injury becomes a 2 game DNP.
Yes, I know what you mean. But it frustrates me when posters expect DL to pull off some miraculous trade.Great post - except that #1 is just not compatible with #2, #4 and #5. Sorry. I guess I wasn't clear enough. I agree that pulling off a trade is a long-shot because of values and contracts. Charlotte or Phoenix are really the only two realistic options that I can see the Jazz pursuing. Not sure that they'd be interested though.
But if you really want to get Burks, Kanter and Gobert more court time, there's a sure-fire way to do it that doesn't involve pulling off the aforementioned trades. And this should have been done a long time ago. It's not the Millers style, and I doubt they'll do it, but it's past time to sever ties with Ty. When one thing gets in the way of several things that need to be accomplished, then the one thing is the easiest change to make.

I have genuine interest in seeing him back. At the right price.I wouldn't be surprised to see RJ's minutes drop a bit after the deadline. Jazz have done everything possible to build up trade value for both Jefferson and Williams. Marvin is a different case. There may be genuine interest in bringing him back.
No, if we want the tank to succeed, we have to hope Burke gets a minor sprain and Lucas plays in his place. A D-League scrub would likely pull a Sundiata and come in and win us a game or two.I have genuine interest in seeing him back. At the right price.
My list would be.
1. Trade Jefferson. For just about anything that does not involve future contracts.
2. Start Burks in his place.
3. Play Marvin some minutes at the 3 giving Kanter and Gobert more minutes.
4. cut JLIII. I would rather sign another D-league scrub than keep him in Corbin's back pocket
I've heard many say Kanter can be a consistent 3pt shooter in the league. Right now most think Favors and Kanter in the starting lineup can't work. We need to find out if true or not. If Kanter could hit threes, that would eliminate most of his weaknesses, passing out of the post, and boneheaded mistakes and turnovers, and create spacing and rebounding. This would also help make things easier for Burke, Hayward, and Burks.
With that said... If Kanter is a good 3pt shooter, why would Corbin not let him take 3's as it would only help him make a stronger case to keep his job, unless he isn't hitting them in practice? If you can't hit them in practice, it ain't happening in games.
It's because Corbin is something of a troglodyte when it comes to the efficacy of bigs shooting threes. He'd have had Memo playing ogre ball when he was here.I've heard many say Kanter can be a consistent 3pt shooter in the league.
