Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden will undergo microfracture surgery on his left knee Friday and will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season, the Trail Blazers announced this evening. Dr. Richard Steadman will perform the surgery with assistance from Trail Blazers orthopedic surgeon Dr. Don Roberts at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo. Oden, 22, has been sidelined since fracturing his left patella in a Dec. 5, 2009, game vs. Houston. A recent MRI showed damaged cartilage to the surface of his femur, and his current injury is unrelated to the fractured left patella. Oden previously underwent microfracture surgery on his right knee Sept. 13, 2007.

Portland will be haunted by Kevin Durant for years to come. Sucks for Oden though, I was mostly excited about his potential to be on Team USA with Dwight and Company. That is never going to happen now.

...this guy was damaged goods when he was in College...and everybody knew it! How the Blazers could have possibly thought this was a good idea making him the #1 pick is beyond belief!

No he wasn't. He had surgery on his wrist, but his feet and knees checked out. Oden was not Sam Bowie.

...you stand to be corrected! They determined while he was still in college that one of his legs was shorter than the other....thus the possibility of injuries in the rugged NBA schedule!

...here's the truth...and the rest of the scuttle butt about Oden and his history of injuries....and why selecting him #1 in the draft was a big risk! You will notice included in all of this is the following: "Then again, you can't ignore a sixth grade hip surgery that left one of Oden's legs shorter than the other, resulting in his unusual gait which is often mistaken for a limp."

You mean, just like how we drafted Brewer with a broken arm(and shot)to be our "shooting guard"? Happens all the time in the NBA. Except that since this is the 1st pick, it will be talked over again and again
