Off-Season Rumblings

If there is actually truth to this then I would guess that Presti takes another shot at Lauri this offseason with a different offer. He has clearly envisioned Lauri with SGA, Jalen and Chet so I would guess losing to the mavs because of a lack of another good big has to peak his interest even more.

I would guess that it wasn't their best picks. I would put money on one of the picks being offered was our own pick.
If we are trading Lauri then we should get the pick back but it only counts as half a first. I bet the offer was centered on the Clips picks… if it was a thing.

It depends on if that was the whole deal. I’d also want Dieng. I’d also want to know what we could flip Dort for… I’d also want to know what picks. If it was the clips picks and one of the far out swaps and we got something good for Dort… the. It’s close-ish enough to counter offer… not quite enough to pull the trigger.

I think he’s a tad overrated, but Dort is held in super high regard. He might in the Caruso/OG role player territory where it takes 3 FRP to get him.

It’s tough to judge without knowing the picks….but that’s a decent amount of stuff. Let’s say Dort is only worth 2 FRP. 5 FRP and a swap? I feel like that’s close. The only difference is that instead of getting Dort from OKC I would have them pay me in premium picks. I’m sure they would like to keep Dort around for their playoff runs.

I’d guess one was the Houston pick this year. The clips picks likely involved. Dort I think would get something solid. Not sure he’s quite as valuable as AC but is signed longer. I bet you could get a top ten pick for him this year. So that’s why I said it depends on what you get for him and the pick quality. Not sure Dort is a 2 good picks type value but who knows. It’d be close.

How much til Utah says yes?
Keep offering and find out? It also may have been a timing thing. Wanted to see how the season played out. Maybe they valued the Houston pick higher because it looked like it was top 8 with a chance to move up… so now that pick is worth less. DA may want to see what the summer transaction cycle will look like. Maybe he was effing with Presti. Maybe it’s not real.

As far as I know none of those players have been traded for 3 FRP? OG was just traded, not really any picks involved. Quickley, Barrett, and a second. Quickley and Barrett are maybe worth a first rounder each if we're being generous. Don't think Caruso or Dort would fetch two first round picks, let alone three. Obviously 'first round pick' is pretty loaded as a term. But just seems like teams are putting way more value on them these days, and it's no wonder with all the talent coming into the league at all draft ranges.

If you merge all the rumors together where McMahon said DA told OKC it would cost Williams and picks… it sounds like maybe OKC was trying to make a real deal and Ainge was being the dick in your fantasy league that wants the world and isn’t really serious.

Is that crazy?

How do you compare the value of Jalen and Lauri?

Yes. Jalen is in the second year of a rookie deal. He’d have more value individually. Jalen and picks for Lauri is a lot.

On the Down to Dunk pod Andrew Sclecht says he doesn’t buy the offer rumored… says OKC didn’t or wouldn’t make that offer. He’s on the Athletic and covers/is a Thunder fan. So the old rule of if both fanbases hate the deal then it must be fair seems to apply.
