Offer Bledsoe a huge deal on July 1st

Here is what DL should do doe:

Let hayward walk
Dont overpay a dude like bledsoe
Trade kanter, trey, and GS pick for westbrook (throw in a future first if we must)
Sign Lebron in free agency
Trade Burks, Gobert, and the rights to Tomic for Bradley Beal (throw in john lucas the 3rd if we must)
Grab Thibidoe after he is fired from the bulls for losing in the first round
Win the lottery and draft Wiggins

Starting lineup of:
Westbrook
Beal
Wiggins
Lebron
Favors
With thibidoe coaching them, that would be a nightmare of a defensive team

Who is on board with this team?
If DL doesn't do these things that i suggested then he sux. Plain and simple.

DL is an idiot if he is not planning on doing this, tbpfhwymb

Rookie extensions could only be signed between the end of the July moratorium and October 31st of last year. That is, Bledsoe did not sign an extension of his rookie-scale contract, which is the only avenue through which the Designated Player rule works.

This coming offseason, there are several options for the Suns and Bledsoe. Quoting from Larry Coon's FAQ:

Link: https://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q44

If Bledsoe chooses to negotiate a new contract, he can sign for up to 5 years under the Larry Bird exception. The Suns will not have to name him their Designated Player, as that only applies to extensions of rookie scale contracts. A new contract between the Suns and Bledsoe would not be an extension.

Did not know that about the designated player rule. I thought each team only had one five year slot. Good info.

So GVC, does that mean that if Hayward signs a max 5 year deal, we can still have another dedicated player as well? Not that the Jazz would be dumb enough to give Hayward the five year max anyway...

This is what DL said.

With the new salary cap increasing for next season, Hayward's contract could get pretty big pretty quick. A lot of teams will have money, and a lot will see him as a good #3.

Should be interesting to see the Hayward deal, what burks and kanter get offered from us, and if we target a solid fa or if we just let another team dump salary for picks and assets again.

Draft. Coaching. Our player deals. Free agency. Summer league for our draftees, burke, neto, clark, and Gobert. This will be one helluvan offseason.

The Jazz can sign as many of their own free agents as they want to 5-year contracts. Those players, including Hayward, would not be designated players.

The Jazz can extend only one rookie contract for 5 (additional) years (at the max). They can also have one rookie contract extended for 5 years from another team on their roster (via trade). A player is only the Designated Player if he signs an extension that extends his contract for 5 years. Kanter or Burks could be designated between the start of the free agency period and October 31st, for example.

Sounds as if bpa when jazz draft will be a big. So im all in for throwing a max deal at Bledsoe and letting him do his thing. Id go Bledsoe over Westbrook and I'd resign hayward too. Worst case jazz get Bledsoe at max and if it doesn't work we can always trade him. Lets use this cap space to build and acquire future assets. The g.s. picks were nice but Jefferson at 28 minutes a game really? Seriously?

Thanks for the info. Will rep when I can.
