What's new

Offer to Cavs for #1 is to draft Wiggins not Parker

Trade Favors and #5 for Wiggins
Take Asik and Lin off of Houston for cap relief (trade #23 or #35 and JIII)
Draft Wilcox and Bring Tomic over.
Decide to sign Hayward (don't if it's too much...)

Burke-Lin
Burks-Wilcox
Wiggins-Williams
Kanter-Gobert
Asik-Tomic

Rep this man... If this were to happen damn we'd be rocking!!!

Fixed. Gobert Center and Tomic PF.

Awesome ideas though.

Parker was also playing out of position most of the time in the tourney. Taking him out of the game worked so well for them didn't it?

Because he's a tweener, doesn't currently have a natural position (I believe it to be the 3 at about 228 pounds), and no matter which he plays, the 3 or 4, he's gonna struggle awfully on defense and to a lesser degree, on offense as well.

I'm not denying he will struggle on defense, but I think he will easily get his shot off in the NBA. Not too many scouts would agree with you that he can't score on the next level.

Maybe I overstated his offensive struggles. I simply think he will struggle much more than he ever has because of his tweenerness/conditioning. On a team like the Sixers, he'll still go for 16 a night. But those points will be far from efficient.

So jabari won't be able to score and wiggins will? What a joke. A more wide open offense will greatly help Wiggins score but he isn't going to be able to score easily by any means. Yes. Listen, great athletes can put themselves in better situations because of their athleticism. Wiggins has elite athleticism and will get easy points at a more efficient rate than Parker because of this imo.

The people who don't want Parker so down play him and act like he's so overrated are ridiculous. Parker and Wiggins are extremely close

Maybe you're right. It's how I feel though.

Love kept losing weight years into his nab career, it wasn't all before he was drafted.

I think you're missing the big picture here. From March-June, Love worked his *** off. From March-June, Parker has evidently not. I feel that speaks volumes.

Just a dumb statement. Wiggins very well may be the better choice but its extremely close.

Again, maybe you're right. I feel otherwise though. I see the fact that he plays on both ends of the court, has elite athleticism and length, and seems humble as compared to Parker who I fear will crave the spotlight of a LA or NYC, as huge, especially for a team like Utah and the type of team I presume Snyder's trying to build, coming with a Spurs' mindset.

See above.

I'm not a huge Checketts fan because I think he's kind of a punk, but his dad is Dave Checketts - former Jazz President/GM, former GM of NBA Int'l, former Knicks President, former Madison Square Garden President (MSG Network, Knicks, NY Rangers, etc.), founded Real Salt Lake, owned the St Louis Blues, tried buying the St Louis Rams, sits on JetBlue's board, etc.

His Dad is very legit and young Spencer Checketts seems to have a lot of connections via his Dad and via his own position as a media member.

So is Spencer, legit? I would think he's more legit than most of these other SLC media members. And it wouldn't surprise me if he knew some GMs and front office execs around the league from growing up around the business.

And a former GM, now front office exec confirmed it? Scott Layden fits that description.

I'm listening to Spence and Checketts right now and Spence said that a front office guy that was a former GM called him just before their show and confirmed that the Jazz had contacted Cleveland with the offer but it was for Wiggins and not Parker. Spence said he completely trusts his source.

They will have Lindsey on their show at 5pm MDT and said they will ask him about it. We know how Lindsey will respond to that question, but I am curious if they will ultimately even ask the question.
FO guy that was a former GM: Scotty Layden?
Well the fathers certainly had a Hatfiedl/McCoy thing going on. When David left for NY, Larry H. felt BETRAYED. When Checketts came back to SLC and bought Real SL, Millers did everything they could to prevent the stadium from getting built. I'm sure Frank Layden was caught somewhere in between during the whole nasty business, having worked very closely with David Checketts, but having his paychecks signed by Larry H. Miller. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the leak is coming through Scott Layden and Checketts. I respected Larry H. for his passionate love of the Jazz. But he sure didn't espouse christian-like virtues when it came to trying to blackball Dave Checketts out of the SL sports market.

Thank the lord. Wuggins pease.

For those worried about our front court post trade, I'm sure the Jazz will work through free agency and pick up a vet. Asik perhaps? I dunno that sounds gud.

This deal better happen now or the front office better start doing some *** kissing in regards to Favors. I get that this is a business, but players tend to take things like this personally. It's going to be really awkward telling Favors this was all just a rumor and then having someone come out and say it didn't happen because the Cavs rejected the offer.

I think the $49mil+ should make him feel better.

I understand that position and if players were robots then it wouldn't be an issue. If he finds out that we tried to make this deal and it doesn't happen, I am not sure he is going to be too happy about it all. What he will do about it I don't know.

For Favors especially. He took his uncertain position in NJ very hard. When he got to Utah he looked like a scared puppy.

Honestly, the guy may be a bit too sensitive to be great.

Yeah I know, it's even worse that we'd be trading him to Clevelend.

While I like Favors, this could also be an opportunity to unload salary and force us to see if Tomic or Gobert deserve to be in the league.

I feel like most NBA players have their names circulate in rumors at some point in their career. I don't think its an issue if this deal doesn't go down.

I like Parker because he's LDS, and that might entice him to want to stay here for life. But, if I'm just picking a basketball player, I'm going with Wiggins every time. It's like a choice between Carmello or Kobe. One plays both sides of the floor and the other doesn't.

Carmello is still a pretty great player in his own right, but, give me Kobe.

Just a thought, but I'm assuming we have to take Varejao back as salary. Favors trade value will be about $11M since he has the PPP designation due to his new contract. Wonder if Neto and Varejao are BFF's. I assume they play together on the Brazilian national team.

It only becomes an issue if the front office isn't upfront about it. If they tell him one thing and something else entirely comes out. Say they do offer that to Cleveland and the Cavs reject the offer. Now say that they tell Favors that they never made such an offer and it's later revealed or leaked to the media that they did. I guess what I am trying to say about it is that they shouldn't say anything in regards to the rumor. That way they avoid any issues. I think DL is intelligent enough to take that route.

It would be easy for Lindsey to spin this and put it on Cleveland. He could say the Cavs, learning that Embiid was seriously injured, wanted to know if Favors was available via trade since Lindsey had already expressed an openness to moving up, down or out. Tell Derrick it's a COMPLIMENT if your name comes up in trade rumors...means you are viewed as a valuable player.
