Yes, Angola's win against Macedonia was a surprise. But generally I don't expect any surprise. Russia, Greece and Lithuania shouldn't have problems to qualify,

Couple of Central American countries like Puerto Rico with Arroyo/Barrea and Dominican Republic with Horford/Garcia can uspet any team in quaterfinals. You can't count Macedonia out either, they just have such a big heart and never give up.

Yeah, JV played - 10pt, 5reb, 1blk but he had costly turnover at the end of the game which resulted in 3 pt play for Nigeria. Kleiza led LT team with 22 pts.
AK had good game vs Dominican Republic, 16pts,13reb, 7ast, 2stl - looks in terrific shape.

So 1/4 final pairs are : Russia - Angola, Greece - Nigeria, Lithuania - Puerto-Rico and Macedonia - Dominican Republic. I think Russia and Greece are safe best to go through to 1/2 finals and other pairs are hard to predict. Lithuania is not at their usual strength and Dominican Republic can be tough team for Macedonia to handle.

Such an upset for the greeks. I'm sorry for them, I think it's a misadventure during their regeneration. Other results are surprising too.
Question considering these results; do you think it's because the world basketball(outside of NBA) starting to catch Euro-Ball, or is it to do with the different basketball styles? I mean, as you know, some styles can be adverse for another etc.

Most international teams have NBA players ( or players wth NBA experience ) and some even NBA or NCAA coaches. African teams are very athletic and play very simple iso basketball so with right coaching they present lots of individual matchup problems. But I doubt Nigeria will have any chance vs Russia, Russia is probably even more athletic and is coached by the best coach outside of NBA. Dominican republic depends heavily on Horford and F.Garcia, so if any of them has day off LT should have no problem beating them, they have way deeper and more experienced team. So my prediction for today is Russia and LT advances and tomorrow Nigeria and Dominican plays for last ticket to Olympics.

So no surprises in in semis, easy wins for Russia and Lithuania who take two tickets to London and the last one will be decided tomorrow between Nigeria and Dominican Republic. AK had great game in clincher, 19pts, 8reb,4ast, 4stls. Valanciunas had good game for Lithuania outplaying A.Horford 17pts,7reb vs 12pts,4reb.
