What's new

****official 2012 olympics thread****

I like you so I'm gonna let this slide without a neg rep. The U.S. team didn't force the ref to screw up. They played their asses off, too. We're they supposed to refuse the win? Seriously, give me a break.

I like you too, so I'll try to make amends with a posrep when I can <3

I think there is a slight disconnect here. When I say they don't deserve gold, I'm implying that Canada was the better team, and they deserved to go onto the gold medal match. I was just sorta caught in the moment, but I don't mean to disgrace the US soccer team, and all of the hard work they've put in. It just kills you, I mean here was this underdog story, and their win was stolen from them. Kinda like how I would wish terrible things upon the Lakers team if they won game 7 from the refs.

No hard feelings. That ref really put a black mark on an otherwise legendary match.

Agreed. Still wish Canada came out on top, but it definitely will be considered one of the all-time classics :)

USA Girls Beach Vball took out the top seeded Brazilian team! Yeaaaahhhh baby! What a gutty performance after they dropped the first set to Brazil.

Larissa for Brazil never shut up. It's like... Gary Payton, KG, and Sam Cassel had a love child in Brazil.

Sheesh Bolt is ridiculously fast.

Did anyone see the video where Bolt is being interviewed and in the background they start playing the US anthem for a medal ceremony and Bolt interrupts the interviewer to turn and show respect? I suspect it was more about respecting the athlete being honored and the ceremony than it was respecting the US anthem but it was a very classy move regardless.

US women beat Japan 2-1 for thir thrid straight Olympic gold medal! Woot Woot.

Did you guys see how Mitchell ran on a broken leg during the last 200 meters of his 400M leg in the 4 x 400? Insane. He ran a 46 point split too. I have trouble buying it though.

I watched almost all of this game. Unlike basketball, women seem perfectly well suited to playing entertaining soccer. Now we need a WPS team to play at Rio Tinto.

I think there is a difference between some kind of fracture in your leg and a 'broken' leg.

There is nothing more unintentionally funny in the Olympics than seeing the male USA basketball players being handed flowers on the medal stand. Just the perfect way to put the lid on the Olympics. I want to see them carrying their Olympic bouquets around on all the forthcoming media tours, instead of their medals.

I couldn't find the video, but in my search I found this.

I didn't hear anything about this... but then again I may as well be living under a rock this summer.

So there wasn't a bombing at the Olympics. I guess this means those Illuminati cards I bought were wrong after all. Now what do I believe in?

Congrats to Iran, Kazakhstan, Korea etc and boos to Turkey, Spain, Canada, Poland, India etc...
