Both are bigs. I thought that was really the one position we were way over stocked in. You only get 20 total spots for trainingcamp/preseason.

More than likely the Jazz just want an idea of guys they might want to sign if something changes via trade or injury during the season. Now that I say that, it seems that would be the idea with most of the guys (regardless of position) that get camp invites as the odds of any of them making the regular-season roster are slim at best.

Quinn is interesting. He was runner up to Lebron James for Mr. Basketball in Ohio when he was in high school and has quite a bit of experiences in the league. He got 1.1. million to play for a Russian team last year and has passed through San Antonio. It would appear he has a shot of making the team.

Two of the four look like DLeague dregs. Quinn and Jackson appear to have some NBA pedigree that makes me wonder if the Jazz don't have something up their sleave that involves a 3 for 1 trade and a couple of these guys make the roster.

That would liven things up quite a bit, but the Jazz rarely pull off deals like that unless they are on the other side, giving up the one player like with DWill and receiving several lesser proven assets.

Lately I have wondered if Earl or Tinsley might be on the block what with Foye being on the team and Burks supposedly being able to play the point. And Hayward being the pass minded player he is. I wouldn't be good to loose both of them, but one or the other wouldn't be bad.

However, they signed Tinsley when they didn't have to, so he is likely here to stay this year. And Earl is such a good locker room guy....

Never mind, I doubt it happens, and as far as I can tell everyone else is pretty solid, so really there isn't any room. We would have to get a really good deal to trade the rest of the roster minus the obvious one.

Chris Quinn is a scrub.

Of course Quinn is a scrub. That's why he's in the position of getting a training camp invite and being a long shot to make the team.

Yeah, its just he was bad for Miami.. Don't want to be associated with Chris Quinn.

I'm not sure why so many people are getting their knickers in a twist over the 16th-19th players in camp. As nightmare noted, those players ARE scrubs. There is about a .00001% chance Quinn, Butch, Jackson or Gilder make the team. Jazz are going to carry 14 players. To get there, the Jazz simply cut Braille. Beyond that, the ONLY way another player makes the team is: A) they release Carroll, B) Jazz go with an extra player to cover an existing injury (Watson) or one that happens in camp, or C) Jazz do a 2-for-1 trade.

Knowing the Jazz already have 15 players under contract, Utah is at the bottom of the list for any unsigned players. They stand a much better shot of making a roster with almost every other team in the league. Now next year might be a different story. As for Quinn, I suspect even IF the Jazz carry an extra PG until Watson is healthy, Lindsay may prefer to scour the waiver wire after other teams have made their cuts. There might be better options available at that time.
