I really like Smart because of his attitude, ability to defend, and insane FT rate as well as off the charts predictive metrics based on his outstanding D.

I would also like Gordon, largely because I once again love his attitude. We need some nasty guys on this team, way too many softies.

Exum would probably be my choice if he's there, but I wouldn't fault taking Smart over him.

I agree. Way too many softies. We need someone that will make people say, 'oh his a bad man!'

This seems an awful lot like a comparison to me.
I especially put the phrase of "performance wise" while I was writing it, to avoid a comparison.

But if it is still looking awful lot like a comparison to you, I'm saying now that it wasn't my intention, and I'm saying they are not similar or alike in any areas. I didn't try to compare Vesely's background and his produce with Saric's background. I just tried giving an example of poor performance. It would have been Shved as well, or not a European player at all.

I tried awful lot to state that they are not comparable at all. They are completely different players, with different background and projections.

I like Smart a lot. I think a lot of teams are also going with a two point set up at times. Smarts defense and hustle are off the charts. Our perimeter defense needs a lot of help and Smart could be the best defensive point in the whole draft. I don't really see the point in going after Aaron Gordon because we have Favors.

If like you said we're playing Burke & Smart together in the two point set up, and Smart is defending the opposing point. Then please tell me who Burke is going to defend?

I see so 6'3 Smart and Favors will defend Durant, James, J.Johnson, P.George and other wing stars. Great logic there dude.

I just put my vote in for Team Randle. I have a pretty limited basis for judging, but here's why I like him:

He seems to follow the mold of bulky, strong PFs who dominated college ball but had skeptics regarding how their game would translate into the NBA. Guys like Kenneth Faried, Paul Milsap, Carlos Boozer, even Draymond Green. He just comes across as an upgraded version of those guys. And a premier version of Paul Milsap is quite possibly an NBA all-star.

So... based heavily on gut feeling and light on actual knowledge, I on the Randle train.

Millsap was an NBA all-star this season ...

Depends on matchups, I would say, but you're right it could present a problem. And if you draft Smart, then what happens to Burks?

The only team we could match up OK with would be Clippers playing Paul and Collison... other than that you're left with either Burke picking up the SG or Smart picking up the SG (in which case his dominant on defense is lessen).

Well, Randle reminds me of a more athletic Zack Randolph who has no problem being effective against bigger, longer players.

This.

Randle is being wayyyy underrated by this board.

I'm fine with it though. The same thing happened with MCW last year and I was proven right there.

Didn't you want Burke over MCW, too?

I'm actually quite happy only a handful liked Randle. It'll be that much sweeter when he starts to kill it in the NBA.

Yeah, I liked him fine, as well. But I don't go preaching that I was some genius for not hating on the guy.

I think there should be some accountability on this board though somehow. If you made the wrong call you should stand up to it. If you made the right call it should also be acknowledged.

I give PKM a hard time all the time about Rivers, same goes with Cy re Porter... but the opposite should also be true.

Yeah, but everyone gets it wrong sometimes. Even the guys who get payed big bucks to evaluate talent.

Yeah but what I can't stand is guys who get it wrong time after time, and yet come on these boards and make definitive statements about future draft prospects without getting checked. They're often the ones who make the loudest noise and for some reason everyone seems to listen to them.

That's what I mean there should be some record keeping for accountability, but there isn't.
