Definitely didn't expect that and to think I was getting all worked up early in the game on that helmet to helmet on Christopher in the endzone that lead to the missed FG. It's not like the U played a clean game early on they had the INT, fumble, missed FG and a turnover on downs so early on both teams had chances to capitalize on each others miscues.
Like many have already said or heard I think that hit on Wynn kinda woke him up and then that TD to end the first half gave the team the boost they needed to close it out.
Ya, as bad as BYU was playing the U (and BYU's defense) kept them in the game for a bit. Agree about the half-ending TD. Another example of bad management by Doman.

I was trying to find this earlier in response to some of Duck's comments and wanted to post it in the Cougar Season thread but didn't want to cross the line or go into that thread.

A few of my favorite blurbs:

For the most part, Utah goes about its business, winning games. BYU talks about its lofty goals of national championships and national exposure, comparing itself to Notre Dame, and then, more than once or twice or thrice, embarrasses itself with its stumbling and bumbling, its lack of preparation, its lack of execution, its lack of proper coaching.

When Utah has an off-year, such as last season, it goes 10-3. When BYU has an off-year, like last season, it barely breaks .500. The Utes, at least typically, win their bowl games. With the Cougars, it’s a 50-50 proposition.

Head to head, the Utes have outperformed BYU, leading the Cougars 12-9 in the past 21 games. More often than not, when BYU beats Utah, it edges the Utes in tight games. When Utah beats the Cougars, it could be close, or it could be an absolute blowout, like the 54-10 thumping Saturday night.

Team of the week: Is there anything better than stomping your bitter rival in their own building? Answer: No (Well, touring the Mediterranean in your own yacht might be better, but it's close). The Utes' 54-10 crushing of BYU surely was great fun for the visiting team, particularly after the tough loss at USC. And it was meaningful because it was the first meeting between the two after Utah got invited to join the Pac-12 and BYU didn't (insert your own raspberry there, Utes fans, if you wish).

I'll be honest, I agree with everything he said.

Dick Harmon, Bronco, etc talked up this team bigtime over the offseason. They dumped Anae, a proven, for a completely unproven (who was supposedly talked about bringing back the prolific passing game).

I think Doman goes to show that being a good player doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a good coach. I personally have a TON of question regarding Doman. the QBs aren't developing (heaps doesn't look any better from last year. If anything, he's regressed). And the playcalling has sucked. the total lack of discipline is an issue too. After the first two or three turnovers, the camera showed Doman smiling and laughing with his guys telling them to relax and have fun. Bullcrap. In a rivalry game on national TV in your place while trying to prove to the BCS conferences that you belong, you get into the offense's faces and tell them to knock that **** off and get back to business or else they'll watch the rest of the game (or season) from the bench.

As a result, another fumble ends up being not a big deal. Fumble after holding penalty after missed block after dropped pass after overthrow ends up being "Carlos Boozer" shrugging his shoulders after his man dunks. "Well guys, at least I tried!"

No more trying, DO!!!

Doman isn't the only guy either, the RBs hold the ball too lose. I wonder about their rotation too. IMO, Kariya and Ethan should be carrying the ball, not JJ.
The WRs don't run very crisp routes. And why the hell is Jacobson nearly 300 lbs?
Special teams has always been an issue with the cougs. At least this year they have a good place kicker.
And the O-line post Lavell, has been average (at best).

doman and Heaps are taking a lot of punishment today. But in reality, I think there are a lot of coaches on that staff that are given a free pass. Not to mention the insane media buildup that occurs nearly every year (and failure to live up to the hype).

For a program that "demands" so much personal accountability, it sure seems that many are given a free pass.

Basketball has achieved much more in the past decade. Yet, Rose's program was chopped to put Football on stage. We'll see if BYU lives to regret that decision...

Wynn's biggest problem has always been his confidence. It was more of a problem than his shoulder, and will continue to be a problem for as long as he plays. Hopefully this game will give him a boost for their PAC12 schedule. He's kinda fragile in that respect.

His soft throws are going to get one of his receivers hurt. Christopher took some big hits Saturday night because he had to wait for the throws, and it's probably not the last time he'll get lit up.

well at least we appear to be deeper at the position than expected, Dres Anderson has been awesome

and I'm surprised we haven't used Moeai as much he's got great hands for a TE

there's going to be options for Wynn it's just a matter of making the accurate throws

While I partially agree with this. And he needs to learn when to get it in and when to show touch. Some of his soft throws led to big plays that don't happen if he guns it. The TD to Dres is a perfect example of this. That DB gets that ball if it's not thrown over him. And an early pass to Christopher was the same way. There are times however when he needs to put some heat on it and get it there faster.

Overall I think Wynn is not nearly as bad as he is getting called by most here. I think he's a QB coming off a major injury who is still getting over that. I think he is every bit as good as Heaps. Who is seriously overrated by most cougar fans.

I enjoy that Bronco uses the "Loser" sign when his team gives up a touchdown. I like the consistency in his execution of the sign and how his thumb and finger complete their assignments.
