Official Jazz workouts thread

that comment drops him down a little for me
It doesn't mean he looks to shoot or score every time he gets the ball it means that when he does go to shoot or score he will do it with reckless abandon. Iverson pound for pound was the toughest in the nba in his prime. Iverson went full speed every second of a game, and this is what he's talking about.

Iverson was an absolute beast on the court and had a gear called beast mode.

... that's news to me.

Did you ever see this dude play. Not many played the game harder or with more passion.

I was fairly judgmental at the time, and hated Iversons tats and dread locks and 'I don't Practice', and storys about him leaving for 5 game road trips with a back-pack full of cds and then buying new clothes in every city and other stories.

But even with all that I loved to watch him play. Tthe man was an incredible ball player. He was short, light and should have been outplayed but his heart was huge and he fought hard.

If McCollum is all that the Jazz should trade whatever to get up and get him.

McCollum wishes he had what AI had.. but he's a MUCH more cerebral player.

Allen Iverson was my hero in his prime. He was the coolest guy in the whole NBA. But I was a kid back then.

Sorry, but I still don't think McCollum will be agile or quick enough to be a starting PG in the NBA.

In fact he might be the least mobile starting PG.

You've probably heard this before, but the NBA game is much quicker and faster than the college game. I'm just not convince (yet) that McCollum has the required agility and change of pace to thrive at the PG position in the NBA.

Thankfully, he doesn't need to convince you.

Also DWill had a really good handle as well as solid assist numbers (6.8 assists) coming out of college. So he already had solid PG skills that makes projecting him at the PG at the next level a bit easier to make.

Similarly with Lillard, he had a solid handle and solid assist numbers (6.5 assists) coming out of college. Moreover he had that penetration game that he can always pull out of the bag. When all else fail, he had enough turn of speed to just get in the lane and dish.

McCollum to me lacks the agility, quickness, turn of speed, elite handle or the assists numbers to give me confidence that he'll fit right in as a starting NBA point guard.

McCollum is a lot more quick/agile than his frame lets on. He'll have no problem competing athletically in the NBA.

Walt Perrin after McCollum's workout

- 2 good shooters in today's workout
- both shot well
- both suffered with the air
- CJ struggled but fought. Shot better later in workout.

Re CJ's full time PG potential

- Tough to see it in a 1-on-1 situation / 3-on-3
- will have to watch more tape & talking with him
- ball handling: looked pretty good for his size
- Question - so why do people question CJ's ability to play PG? PG have to do everything, passing, seeing the court, making the PG pass - seeing an opening and trying to get it to that player as quick as possible and in the right position so he has an easy shot to make
- Yes he needs to improve those things, but same goes with all other PGs
- mute on whether CJ is up there with there PGs they have worked out

Any hard evidence to back this up?

McCollum's standing and max vertical are 2 - 3 inches better than DWill's.

McCollum's lane agility time is within 2-tenths of a second of DWill's.

McCollum's 3/4 court sprint is just 7 hundredths of a second behind DWill's.

McCollum hasn't played in 6 months and needs to get in game shape, but he'll be fine.
