Official Jazz workouts thread

So does the fact that the Jazz have increased their Pre-Draft efforts 10 fold since Lindsey arrived a bigger reflection on Lindsey or KOC?

Interesting question.

I would say Lindsey. I don't think many teams workout as many as the Jazz have this draft. I would say most have worked out a number closer to what we have traditionally done and we are simply being more thorough this year.

Noel is a Ferrari. Looks great, but you can't drive it because it's in the shop for repairs.

Haha..

'Bazz is one of those driver's ed cars driving on a learner's permit. He wants to drive himself but has to have his dad with him at all times.

I think you also have to take into account how many open roster spots and need for a PG is having an affect and the players agents saying yes to the Jazz, not taking anything away from Lindsey.
The FA workout/tryout thing that is all Lindsey however, not sure if every off season will be this busy with workouts but wondering if the FA scrimmage camp/tryout thing will continue.

Since the topic is cars, I really like what Lindsey is doing thus far...taking time to kick the tires of all the models out there. I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but I wonder if the Jazz would consider buying a late 1st - if there is a player they like. They have the roster spots available and I'm sure a few teams over (or about to go over) the tax limit would be willing to sell, like LA, Miami or Indiana. I believe the going rate is $3M.

It is very peculiar, because not only is it far and away more than the Jazz have ever done, it is much more than any other team is doing this year. Including teams with multiple picks.

From listening to Lindsey, I kind of think he blew up the player evaluation methods the Jazz were using. Perrin and Friedman are both older. They may not have been keeping pace with the new NBA. When Jazz had that young scout a few years ago (he went to OKC) they were able to draft a couple of players--now they are back to the old gaurd.

My other theory on the multiple workouts: Jazz had holes in their player database and were not able to share info on american players with Euro teams, and so they had nothing to offer teams they were asking help from. Lindsey mentioned some uncertainty with the Euro scouting set-up in the Jazz organization--this may be his way of addressing it.

My take is that players 6-50 are not that different from eachother this year. This year their is no Tier 1 or Tier 2 players and there are only a few Tier 3 players. From the Tier 3 level of players if you ask one gm to list the 5-6 that are in this draft and you ask another Gm the same question you may have 2-3 players the same but others with have different names. That leaves drafting 7-46 very intriguing. A Reggie Bullock in my opinion may have a far superior career to Otto Porter, but Bullock will go 15-30 and Otto will go 1-8. I think guys like Eric Green, Lorenzo Brown and Isaiah Caanan may end up being as good or better than any of the Burke, MCW, or CJ McCulloms of this draft. Its more likely that Burke, MCW and McCollum are better but the separation isn't mind boggling. After watching almost all of these guys I think this is a draft to go with physical upside and well developed skills of shot blocking, defense, and shooting will go first:

With that said guys like: Oladipo, Mclemore, Len, Adams, Shroeder, MCW, Dieng, Bullock, McCollum, Zeller, Snell, Bennett, Nogeira, Gobert, Sergei Karasev who either are defensive with proper size and bodies or elite athleticism or guys with superior shooting trump the players with questionable athletecisim and skill sets: Porter, Noel, Shabazz, Olynik, Plumlee, Crabbe, Hardaway, fall under those barometers.

I wouldn't be surprised to see guys like Caanan who can really shoot it get drafted in the first round as a hot shooting back up pg over more established players like Crabbe, Hardaway etc.

Word is Shabazz is injured and was limited in his jazz workout today.

Here is video of his workout. https://vine.co/v/hBpb3mTOHZK

I think Schroeder is Volkswagen Golf GTI ... small but with extremely fast acceleration... German pedigree.. also much cheaper than its Porsche/Ferrari counterparts.

I think Larkin is a Fiat, small but has more value and is better than a Volkswagen Golf GTI and a Porsche/Ferrari. Best value for where it's at even for being undersized.

Golf GTI vs Fiat
