Official Jazz workouts thread

I caught a portion of that interview from on top of a mountain somewhere aways SE of the wasatch front. It was good, but I missed the part about Larkin. Fredman talked more specifics about current jazz players strengths and weaknesses than Lindsey or KOC will.

One thing I learned....Jazz would like Hayward to take more of a leadership role. But he wasn't here this week working out with Favors, Burks, McNeal and Murphy. Evans is in town for Jr. Jazz. Where is Hayward while his teamates are working out?

I think he was playing Starcrafts online with his friends and yesterday he was a guest on David Locke post game show.

Both were streamed LIVE online. Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you the link for their next shows.

Guess maybe this means he doesn't want to take a leadership role and doesn't care about this team very much because he would much rather be in Indiana, I bet he was wishing we drafted Paul George too, lol!

I dunno if you can go that far.... last year we had Jefferson & Millsap & Mo.. so it's hard to stamp your mark on the team.

Next year with Hayward & Favors being the most paid and most experienced, I think things should change.

Well, except for the Wet Bandit.

At this point I don't really know who I want the Jazz to pick. I just hope they don't reach for a player. In this draft there will be a lot of movement because of the lack sure fire hits. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jazz take a big man at 14 and then take BPA (PG) at 21. I won't be surprised to see the Jazz trade back either.

This is what Derrick is doing...this is where champions are built...

I think P3 is overrated. It improves athleticism and specific measurables, but does that really translate into better performance on the court? That's arguable at this point. I'd rather hear DF is working with Karl, or playing pickup games against other NBA players. Derrick needs work on his offensive skills, on his FT shooting, etc. Sure he needs time in the weight room and better conditioning, but that can be done almost anywhere. P3, IMO, is probably highly effective for the first couple of times, but after that, I think the law of diminishing returns applies.

What is good to see, though, is Favors' commitment to getting better, knowing the Jazz expect great things out of him. He's not the introvert he was when he first arrived. I saw some fire in him during the last couple of months. He's going to have a breakout season. I guarantee it!

Yeah and that could be part of Karl's plan/schedule for Favors this summer. Get bigger, get stronger, get faster over the course of the Summer. Obviously going to P3 is not all he's doing. I bet this is just the start - hopefully he'll be working on his moves, working on the PnR, etc, later on in the Summer.

BTW, if Karl wanted Favors to work on PnR moves, he probably would make him wait until the Jazz draft a new PG (or signing someone new as a FA) before training him on it. As far as I know PnR requires a lot of practice and understanding between both the PG and the roll man. Therefore waiting for the PG to get drafted I think makes sense.

This is only the first step, but it is great to see he's going this HARD this early.

Favors is going to have a monster year
