I think it's an interesting topic because you have to decide how you're determining these four players. Is it just who you think are the best four players ever, as if we had a time machine and they could all play against each other like we do with the fantasy draft? Or is it who you think contributed the most to the game of basketball in some sense? I feel like it should be the latter, but that's just me. So, having said that, my Mount Rushmore includes:

Michael Jordan
Bill Russell
Magic Johnson
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Oscar Robertson (60's)
Kareem-Abdul Jabar (70's & 80's)
Michael Jordan (80's & 90's)
Tim Duncan (2000's and 2010's)

Best player per decades style.

I had to give Kareem the nod over Wilt.

Way more championships, the most MVP awards ever, #1 scoring all time.

Just feel that Wilt elevated the game of basketball in his era... Just like magic&bird and Mike did!!!

career wise, yes. but wilt was a better overall player because of the defense. aging wilt with 1 good knee neutralized the league mvp - kareem.

mt. rushmore of basketball skills/ability
MJ - nonstop air assault, greatest competitor, top 3 perimeter defender, greatest body control, greatest scorer
Magic - greatest vision & playmaking ability
Bird - smartest basketball IQ, top 5 playmaking ability, greatest shooter of all time
Wilt - greatest physical specimen, greatest defensive presence

mt rushmore of basketball career
MJ - regarded as the greatest of all time. ultimate scorer, playmaker, defender, will power. Global phenomenon.
Magic - regarded as the greatest playmaker / pg of all time. made basketball fun to watch. Started the NBA train.
Russell - greatest winner of all time.
Kareem - longevity, iconic sky hook, and league's best player for over 10+ season.

How is no one putting Oscar Robertson on theirs? He was the first player of his kind and really revolutionized basketball.

Oscar > Wilt

...well, the biggest thing Magic Johnson ever contributed to the NBA was the "Aids" virus! But I had him on my list for another reason! Actually, I have 3 of your 4 on my list....and here's why:

I got to have Kareem (got career stats AND championships coming out of the ying-yang!) Wilt (not as many championships, 2 I believe....but dominated the game statistically for more than a decade....caused the league to create the "3 second lane" and once average 50 points a game! Also led the league in assists one year!) Michael Jordan only because of the championships and overwhelming clutch performances when everything was on the line. And finally, Magic Johnson....has the championship rings, played the game the right way, made EVERYBODY on his team better.....and beats out Larry Bird because of his overall versatility!

P.S. Notice no white guys on my list! And you guys thought I was a racist!!!

So you're picking Wilt over BR?

So you're picking Wilt over BR?

....well, they both won 2 championships, but Wilt has accumulated statistics that dwarf those of Lebron and will probably always dwarf them! Plus, Wilt change the game with his skill set and dominating of the paint that they had to institute the "3 second lane" or he probably would have averaged 50 or more points for way more than just 1 year!

I meant Bill Russell.
