What's new

***Official new head coach search thread*** (merged)

So President Rigby was on 1280 this afternoon, and I must say that Dennis Lindsey must be rubbing off on him...he didn't give up much. He would not confirm that the jazz are down to 4 candidates. He said that jazz don't just hire a coach they marry a coach. No word yet if attorney general Reyes will recognize the marriage, maybe that is why the coach search is now in its 7th week.

But he did talk sort of like maybe a decision had been made of some sorts. He said they were much further along this week than last week and that he expects to be even further along next week. He went on to say he feels very good and very comfortable and it feels right within his heart (abt 17:35). I don't know if that was about the process, about a specific coach or about the values they put in place.

He also said the candidates were excited and ...
Waiting!!!

Rigby is so incredibly annoying. I would rather dig my eardrums out with a spoon than listen to that sanctimonious know-nothing yes-man ever again.

Waiting!!!

He said he was excited about the mindset of the candidates, of what they have proposed, they are excited about this young team, about the opportunities we(Jazz) have picks, with assets we have financially....the ability we have to add veteran players, we have an exciting future ahead of us. (Abt 11:58)

If anyone was really bored he/she could count the number of times Randy said excited, exciting, or excidedness in the 22 minutes he was on.

I think the secret fourth candidate is Van Gundy.

I hope so, but doubt it. JVG is not perfect, but compared to Alvin Gentry he might as well be Phil Jackson.

**I would love to get Van Gundy.
**I expect Griffin or Snyder and am good with either(slight preference toward Griffin).
**I would loathe hiring Gentry. I view him as a downgrade even vs Corbin.

Having to resign amidst multiple NCAA violations likely hurts Snyder. I'd be ok with Griffin or Snyder, though. I like what DeMarre said about a coach actually working with him on footwork. What a novel idea...to actually spend time helping your players get better. And all along, I thought that was the sole responsibility of the guys at P3.

Everyone knows Alvin Gentry took the Suns back from the brink to the WCF, right? Anyone remember that? And has been the only coach since Pat Riley to get anything out of Shaq?
